Cochin Thread!!!

This is my 10 week old bantam. Does anyone think he may be show quality?

I would say no. His comb and wattles are to big, he's pinched in the tail, long in the back, eyes are yellow and should be bay (red brown), sparse feathering on the middle toe and low wing set. Looks like he has hard tail feathers, but unsure of that.


You want round and fluffy - like Ego (his head is down, so not a good conformation pic, but you get the idea):

What makes a good show quality LF cochin? I have been wondering this and can't seem to find anything online

I really doubt the age is correct. Lots of filling out to do yet. Pattern is not very good and I do not know if it will improve with age. Not enough cushion yet. Is it a blue? It may change but at this age it is not a SQ bird. New pictures at 4 months from multiple angles and I will do a better job of critiquing.

I will have to get some pictures of my 2 1/2 month. He has a lot of foot feathering and is low to the ground. His tail feathers are just now coming on so I will Jane to see what they look like. They are rounded off like a good Cochin bantam Roos tell should look like.

Here is foghorn leghorn at 3 weeks and 4 days she is the cutest little ball of fluffiness

Her face looks so goofy in the last pic she must have been making a silly face for the camera. She is the reason I am getting 2 more Cochins tomorrow morning

I am not getting to excited because luck has not been on my side this year in the way of chicks (I have lost around 1/3 of my Cochin and Orp chicks so far this year), but I hatched my first F1 Chocolate Cochin chick this past weekend. It was a nice birthday surprise for me... Except it was an accident. It's a MFC x Choc Orp cross.
