Nothing cuter than a cochin. This is Opal. She may not be quite show quality, but she is such a cutie!! I just hope she decides it's time to lay some eggs soon

I just hatched two partridge chicks. I haven't looked at them closely, but I bet the color variation means one is a pullet and the other is a cockerel???
Hi Joanie, mine are both pullets, i think my lighter one is mottled, like the bird in my avatar. Definitely going to keep both to see what they grow up like. i am guessing the colour variation comes from either mahogany, dilute or the patterning gene. I will only be able to tell when they grow up though.
Hi I was wandering where you brought your first Cochins? Or whether you are selling any of yours? Dont worry if not, I'm just curious! they look gorgeous!!
I purchased a pair of black cochin bantams from a show this weekend.
There are 2 things that I don't like about them; they both have split beasts and the rooster's wings are loose. They were otherwise very nice and the breeder said he'd sell them to me for $50. He ensured me that I would be able to breed away from the split breasts, but now I'm starting to wonder.
Is it possible for 2 parents with split breasts to produce offspring with full breasts?
