Cochin Thread!!!

I got her from another BYC member that is local to me. And she got her from a breeder that I believe now has a closed flock. I have been searching for a while now to find a good quality Silver Laced Cochin breeder because I would love some more like the one I have, but I cant seem to find anything. They seem to be becoming less popular.

the problem is, there are good breeders, but the birds themselves need a lot of work still...

I just got my silver laced roo (lost my other last fall) so once he's out of quarantine i'll be setting up my girls, but at least this year I think patterns are going to be a bit rough, since 2 of my girls are only incompletely laced
these are my birds to work with... cross fingers we get some decent chicks from them this year...

and my new roo

They are very nice looking chickens but you are right, the coloring is off and the lacing incomplete. I hope your rooster helps with the lacing, fingers crossed for this years chicks.

overall their type is pretty good tho, so that's a plus over some... i think I'd rather have the type there first with incomplete lacing, because the pattern can be worked on later down the road.

You saw my GL birds at Knoxville. Those birds were all out of an incomplete laced mothers. Not as much as the top one but incomplete none the less. The male I used laced similarly to your male. Go for it and show us the pictures come fall. Can't wait to see what you get.

My mom just got chicks yesterday (all feed store, nothing fancy) and one is a yellow Cochin chick, I'd guess 1-2 weeks bc her wings are coming in. How can we tell if she'll be white or buff?? Her head is a lighter yellow than her body and the wing feathers are light brown with speckles I guess you could say. If she send me a good pic, I'll post.
