Here are some of them from this summer (sigh we are never going to get summer back in Wisconsin) They are a little bigger then this right now and mostly likely not going to get much bigger!!!

Luna in a tree getting away from the snow.

Luna stopped being really mean to Bonnie. Besides for chasing her away from her BFF Pepper, that's all Luna does. Bonnie just tends to avoid her.

Would a hatchery sell golden laced cochins? That would be neat!

Yep....I got one from our ranch store....she's not the best quality but she's a great brooder!

Awesome! I wondered about Mille Fleur too. I don't know much about them. I have cochins now, but not laced.

Not sure if you woudl find the MF color in hatcheries yet but there are some people out there that are mass producing to get sales and the type on the birds really is lacking. All they care for is color or pattern and will often call them Calicos because perfecting the pattern is a lot harder. Hatcheries can pick up eggs from these people and hatch out chicks for sale but all you get is messed up coloring.
If you want good birds, buy from a true breeder.
If you want pets then hatcheries will give you that. Maybe.
With some breeders, you get great temperaments on the birds because they have to handle them a lot for exhibition or actual every day care. People who mass produce do not give that care and seldom touch the birds so they can't weed out the bad temperamental birds.

Awesome! I wondered about Mille Fleur too. I don't know much about them. I have cochins now, but not laced.

I agree with the previous post Excellent information.

Do a lot of research. It is a beautiful bird when done right and some are doing it pretty well and many are not. Improvement has happened and hoping for more improvement. . I would have to check further with others but generally I believe they are not breeding true. Many pretty culls that a lumped under the name Calico. I call them yard birds.

Mille are not a laced birds. Mille is a pattern that is specifically defined in the Bantam Standard. Many birds called Mille do not meet the criteria.

Laced birds that are recognized are the Golden Laced and the Silver Laced available in both bantam and large fowl.

Im not terribly worried about the quality of the little ones. I have a breeding pair of standard blues and I breed other breeds also. If I started with new ones my husband would have something to say about it lol. These little ones are just for pets. I just like guessing at color. Thanks for your info though!!
