Cochin Thread!!!

I've never had cochins before and all my other breeds roost, so this is new to me. I figured I would just leave him/her where he is most comfortable. I have a partridge cochin that can't figure out how to get off the roost half the time.

I picked him up with my red brown roo today and I am so in love with him. My 4 yo named him static shock

He is so handsome, like a butterscotch color. I didn't know Cochin's don't always roost!! thank you for the heads up! I know my black one will but now to think on it I have yet to see my blues roost. Hmmm

Lemon Blue is not recognized by the APA but is by the ABA. There are currently a couple of folks that are working on Brown Red large fowl and one that I know of that is producing some for sale. If you want a particular variety of Cochin, my recommendation would be to look on the Cochins International site for breeders of the variety you are wanting. There is also a Facebook page, but they don't have a breeders list.

I have a large fowl brown red male and I'm getting some splash pullets next week to put with him so I can get lemon blues.

I really like him. He's a bog ole baby too.

I just got my first bunch of 8 cochins! I'm super excited and they are super adorable. We got straight run right before Easter and ended up with all Roos and only kept one. This is our do over bunch and the woman we bought them from sexed them as best she could so hopefully I have 8 ladies now!!
Here are some pictures of them.

Look at all those feathers on the feet!! I'm so excited!!
