Cochin Thread!!!

My chicks? It goes golden laced, black (possibly blue but looks like a black cochin), partridge, and buff.

duh.........sorry I see that now. As I said my eyes aren't as good as they once were and evidently my power of observation also. In my defense, I WAS going to say White or Buff, but alas I did not. My bad (I hate that saying, but it seems fitting here.)

Really Andy? My eyes are not as good as they once were, so I know I may well be wrong, but the first chick looks like a Golden Lace to me, followed by Blue, then maybe Mille Fleur and finally a White.

The third one looks like a male partridge to me. I agree with you that it could be anything on an asiatic base though. not knowing about ideal's birds, i would guess the most common bird on an Eb base they would breed would be partridge.

But that is a guess i must admit

Okay need to buy some eggs so I'll go to Costco and get a double dozen.

Their combs do look to be getting redder. I can hope. 24 wks is too long to wait wah!

I cannot wait to get my cochins!!. I'm so excited. I'm not that interested in breeding for quality but for color ^-^

Does anyone think they'd be able to PM and explain Cochin (poultry) genetics?

That is quite a complicated subject. There is a guide on this site that Ki4got wrote, and you can have a look on my website for a beginners guide. Link is in my signature

I followed this chart
400

:D hopefully it's accurate! If it is then the partridge is a pullet. At 10 days she def looked like a pullet. :) but I could be wrong lol
