Cochin Thread!!!

Can you breed a self blue Cochin hen and get sexlink chicks? If so, what rooster would work?
I've never personally seen and sex link offspring produced by using anything other than silver gene hens or barred gene hens, however since blue is always dominate to brown, crossing your blue Cochin hen with a brown rooster should produce sex linked offspring. The male offspring should be blue and the female offspring should be brown.

Hey guys! I have a question. I'm new to cochins and chickens in general and was wondering about how much they will weigh when full grown and how long it takes them to be full size. Thanks for any info!

Bantams weigh in at about 2 lbs and take about 10 months to be close to full sized. Gentle birds (usually). My Bantams don't lay until at least 6 months of age and my best show birds lay even later.

Large Fowl (some incorrectly call them Giant) get between 6 and 11 lbs depending on the line the breeder uses. Those take about a year to mature. Love the disposition on most of these.

The two with black on them are bantam Cochins... I think! Any guess as to what color they will be?

Just got her today. She is a mottled bantam cochin, almost a year old. Love her already, probably one of the sweetest birds and we just brought her home. I think she would sit on my lap and watch TV if I let her........
