Cochin Thread!!!

farmguy5, to answer your question. :)

FOR SALE
Black Bantam Cochin Cockerel. From a mottled pen. He should show more mottling as he molts. This cockerel has very nice type with wonderful foot feathering and the so desired green sheen. He should be an excellent breeding individual when he matures and is already developing nice cushion and wing set. This line is strong & fertile breeders with hens being prolific layers and good broodies.
(also pictured is a related male as an example) We are NPIP certified and AI clear and he is Mareks vaccinated. 8 weeks old. $25. Oklahoma City.

Very handsome fellas! I had a broody hatch some mottled cochin bantams for me this fall. I ended up with 1 pullet and 3 cockerels. I hope my boys are as handsome as yours.

Thank you. I love the bantam cochins!

Thinking of adding a few Mottled Bantam Cochins next year myself. They are so fun to watch walk around. They look to me like they shuffle. A friend has a few in with her LF Cochin and the Bantam male rules over her LF Blue, so funny. Her Blue runs from the little one. Big attitudes in those little birds.

I had two more cochin/turken chicks hatch!! They are just the cutest they are four days old but these pics are when they had just hatched.

Both are feather footed but one has black skin and the other has normal white skin like the first one I had hatched.

I'm going to name this one salt

I was looking for an explanation of the terms used in breed standards (I.e. Triangular body type? What does that mean?) and found this list. Can anyone tell me with certainty... These are the ONLY colors you can show for a Cochin? So my penciled and splash hens wouldn't be admissible as cochins? How is that so when I look at photos online of people with their splash birds that won ribbons. Confused.
I've never shown a bird but I am curious as to how it all works
