Ross running to the rescue... Lacy was all by herself. Lol

Hi there,

I am going to be getting some blue, black and splash standard cochins soon. I was just wondering how old they are before you can sex them and if there is a certain trick to doing it apart from looking at their comb and wattles. I have heard that you can sex them like the Brahmas (the females mature quicker). Is this true?

So this is not the guy you are looking to trade?
He is Georges!

LF or Bantam?
thank you and no i have two barred rocks and two bantam mixes who are going to get traded. ho breeding him however i do intend on breeding him and will hopefully get some lookalikes which will be up for sale or trade depending on what my flock needs at the time. i am not going to breed for another year though. i want my hens to be in lay for a year before i have them set. oh and he is a Standard Cochin. i'm not really sure what LF is though. these are the roos i'm getting rid of.

the pic is not a current pic his comb and waddles are much bigger now. the barred rock above this is current. he is a rooster but for some reason his comb and waddles are undersized. he's been undersized since he was chick. the two banties aren't really current either. they have a lot more color now. they are japanese bantam/Sebright mixes. hatched last spring in June. i am concidering getting a couple of cochin bantams. i don't really care color, because they will be hens and any chicks will be mixes as long as i have my current bantam Rooster.

i hear that the first 48 hour you can feather sex. look it up on the internet. here's a pic.

I love my Cochins. They are super sweet and balls of fluff running around free range. I have partridge Cochins so they have camouflage when ranging in the woods. Love the different varieties and colors you guys have!!

I have a Blue Splash cockerel I would be willing to sell you. Let me know if you're interested & I can send pics & more info to your email.
Thanks!
