Cochin Thread!!!

Thanks she is keeping at it bless her little fluffy soul. Tonight it is so cold that her bunk mates have crammed in with her in her box. She has not changed position off her eggs, it amazes me how the other fit themselves in around her. This is Herbert, one of the 2 possible Dads. I hand raised him alone for the first few weeks of his life until I was able to pick up like chicks to keep him company. Herbert grew up thinking I was his Mama and would snuggle up under my chin to sleep or run after me when I walked into another room. Hubby said the poor thing thought he was a human or at least the pet dog for a while.

Thank you to those that responded about my little cochin. Her name is Dutchess. I've been tempted to add a few more cochins to my flock and was hoping that her coloring had a name so I could look for it. I love it.

Wanted to show off my babies. I ordered two blue cochins pullets with my order of white leghorns. They sent three blue cochins instead. Two looked like this and the third one was silvery. I split my order with my friend and she kept the silver one. Any clue what colors they will grow up to be? I'll try and get a pic of the other one but here's mine. Think they will be blue???

There's also quiet a bit of size difference in the two.

Yep they look blue!! The silver one is probably a splash!!

Quick question to all you cochin folks.. I hatched 5 BBS LF cochins last week. At one week old, one of them has full wing feathers and the others only have little tiny stubs - is that any indication of gender. I know in other breeds I have raised - the females tend to be the ones that feather in the quickest.

My 6 month old blue bantam roo Harry. He's in with blue, black, splash, blue mottled and black frizzle hens. I think this spring is gonna be fun!!

My little bowling balls. I just LOVE them!!

So much fluff <3
