Cochin Thread!!!

The red, white, and brown one looks like a calico.
Second photo I'm unsure, might just be a red.
The last one just looks black.
Looks like you have a lot of mixed and/or unidentified colors also

Is Calico a recognized color or is it considered a "project" color?

The red came from a Mil Fleur pairing.

The last one that looks black has a few white spots on him. I am hopeing when he molts that he will gain more. That is how it worked with my last mottled birds.

The two big boys on the left of the water came from a Lemon Blue pairing. Not sure if they qualify for that color or not. The girl dust bathing is also from that, not sure if she is buff or lemon. Cochins have too many colors! LOL.

Thank you. That is what I thought. I have had chickens for years but this is my first batch of colors with the Cochins. Still trying to figure them out!

So many different colors, but a lot are probably just mixed colors, very pretty though! You should get a lot of cool colored chicks from them if you are breeding them. It's always fun to see what you get.

So many different colors, but a lot are probably just mixed colors, very pretty though! You should get a lot of cool colored chicks from them if you are breeding them. It's always fun to see what you get.

I'm with you. Check out this one. Can't wait to see what "she" becomes. She's just 4 weeks now. Her leg feathers are "blue".

I can't remember what this guy is. He has a large red bump on his nose instead of a comb. Blackish grey feet, 5 toes and feathers on each. Absolutely gorgeous bird though. Has awesome grey color with reddish-blonde flecks or highlights around his neck. Very silky feathers along his neck. Looks like hair almost. Only one of our birds that has started crowing. Please help me with what breed he is.

Looks like cochin/silkie mix to me.


5 toes, black skin, feathered legs are most commonly silkies. Others have them too, but silkies are most common.
