I don't know. I was just on eBay looking. It's so tempting, lol. But so far when I hatch out shipped eggs, I just hatch out roosters. We'll see. I just want one hen so I can hatch eggs in the spring, not for show quality but as broodies, and just wanted fun looking hatchings. *sigh*

I have scoured Craig's List. There was one Partridge hen that was 5/6 hours away. I'm contemplating that one. There is other's with white and black. I was just want something different to provide (have a nitch) that King's blue would look cool with. And I am blessed to have joined a WNY Chicken Peeps Facebook group. It's very, very addicting to be connected to other's who love chickens as much as we do.

Molting season has started! Oh my goodness the explosion of feathers. Rake them up then poof! THEY DROP TWICE AS MANY!Happy they will be ready for winter and happy they are healthy but goodness the feathers. Time to bump up protein for them.

Lol my 4 1/2 month olds just finished dropping their juvenile feathers to get their adult ones. I swore there had been a mass murder in my coop one morning with the piles of feathers I woke up to! I did 3 head counts before I calmed down lol

Wait till adult molt starts. I can see the old feathers well on blue, white and red feathers. They look more brownish. I have 3.5 yrs, 2.5 yr,18 month, 12 month, 6 months, 5 month,2 month and 1 month olds. Most of my flocks are older than 18 months so there are around 30 in or close to molt. Not all are Cochin but wow the mess!

I can imagine!!! Do Cochin's have hard molts? My barred rocks look like they just hopped off someone's dining room table when they molt. These are my first Cochin's so will be waiting another year for a real adult molt.

So there's an auction for a breeding pair LF cochins. Your choice of black blue and splash. They are directly from Jamie Matt's himself. He said that if I won I could choose the colors I want.
I currently have April, who's a light blue, and Gary who's a darker blue.
Wondering if anyone has an opinion on what colors I should get. I was thinking of blue and splash, since there some black breeders around here
