the pic they had with the males were very young chicks, probably about 2 month old so not much color into them yet other than a white under fluff and the brown/black coming in while the females looked like that nice salmon. but they looked like they would turn out like your males and the adult females look like your first 2 pics. your males look like the faverolles males i've had. i love the color and would love to work with cochins more if i could find them in this same color here in the US!

Danny, if you were selling eggs from those cochins i would gladly work with them! my dh would be the one getting angry with me though

i told him i wouldn't be buying any more hatching eggs for the season. my work probably wouldn't allow me to ship them there either.

Well, I love your ideas because you are producing some gorgeous birds. Not only color but you seem to be keeping the type. I think your birds will be a great strength to add to anyone's breeding programs.

Hey CC, I cannot believe it is that easy either. I suppose you'd nee a few generations to regain proper pattern and tweek color but I have no idea... sounds good though..like it could work. When are you going to start your hunt for the GL's? You could probably get hatchery ones as there are some awesome typed splash to improve them with. Anything is possible after seeing Cochinman transform those trolls into gorgeous lavenders

Neat birds, Danny!

HeeHee - actually, the hunt for the GL's has already begun. Lakenvelder Farms up in Wyoming has eggs or chicks, and said if I want to wait until April, he makes a run down to Colorado to deliver to the feed stores and make an airport run. Ideal has them, but you have to get 25 at a time - a bit too much for me, but if you have the room, it would probably give you the best selection from hatchery birds. I'm still looking for a good Cochin breeder that has them so that I would get the best type and color.

I don't think it would be that easy either but I don't know for sure but I might try it this year.
I have a gold laced hen that I am breeding to Lavender and some other projects. I will tell you it's not that easy to produce Blue Partridge and Blue wheaten because I have already made crosses for those and produced a lot of blue and black birds leaking silver and red. I really don't know what do next. I know genetics are different on like laced birds and partridge or wheaten I just don't know where to go next. If anybody knows please tell me.

Just took it to the chicken calculator. Cross a gold laced to a splash, and you get all blues. They'll be split for essential genes, like Pg, Co, Ml, and Db. Breed the f1's together, and you get a lot of BBS. You also get a lot of varied craziness, from red pyle to color names that read like Starbuck orders: splash patterned incomplete doublelaced/halfspangled?. The question mark was part of the color description. The blue patterned goldlaced, which I believe is the goal, appears in 1 out of 4096 chicks. Of course, you could get one on your first try.....
There's a really pretty blue with black lacing that should appear at the rate of a little less than 10%, might be usefull as a secondary goal. Happymntn has one... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=289598
Anyone
wants to play with isabel or porcelain in bantam Cochins, I am so in! Especially isabel (easier). Nzpouter has an isabel in birchen, and put it in the BACKGROUND of an unusual colored chicken pic! https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=289598&p=2 near the bottom of the page.
