It is good to "see" you again. I love visiting your website - Beautiful sheep and chickens!!!!!
Your pictures tempt me to try BLRWs but I will stick to MF and Lav. Cochins, oh yeah and the Partridge Cochins that I thought I was going to get rid of (but they are getting so pretty), and..... I have some young Mottled cochins to help with the Mille Fleur typing. I definately would love some Buff Columbian too. Last but not least I have one little plain Buff pullet. In an unguarded moment at the auction I bought her for 1.25. She was so cute but neglected and thin. She is doing fine now and my husband has a soft spot for her. She has succeded in getting the "Coop Builder/Capitol Underwriter" hooked on Cochins too.

, hope my Motties get that nice! Looks like the hatch has 1 cockerel and 4 pullets - a good start. One pullet is small and not thriving like the others though. Don't know what to do but give her Selnet and watch and hope

I hope she makes it too, I hate losing any of them

Self control? What's that? I just bought Mandarins and Wood ducks! Someone stop me!

Self-control is not slapping your best friend, brother, sister, boss, when they tell you you have too many birds!!!

When someone tells me I have too many birds, I tell them to go to that dairy (or cattle ranch or chicken hatchery) over there and tell that stoopid farmer that he has too many (cows, cattle, chickens)

That usually shuts up whomever is referring to me as having too many, after all, is it not a business ?
If you insist it is a business, and the more you have means the more $ you make, then they will leave you alone and see you in a whole different light, like an business person.
But if you refer to the birds as your 'hobby' well, then they will keep messing with you.

(P.S. I do not mean that farmers are stoopid)

Congrats Joanie! When I saw you pick up a couple of those auctions the other night, it reminded me that you had said a couple of weeks ago that you had your 'bator up and running again!

Happiness is

I have 3 mottled from a friend who lives down the road, I just bought 2 pullets from Jamie Matts, one blue mottled and one black, not many spots yet (they are very young) but very beautiful birds. Everybody is still very young and who was laying has stopped with the weather getting colder. I will hopefully have eggs to sell come springtime!
Here's my little blue mottled pullet
