Cochin Thread!!!

I've gotten birds from random sources along with some additions from Judy Gantt. She has exquisite birds and is a very nice lady. Enough can't be said about how great her birds are along with what she has done for the breed.

splash birds usually stay the same color as when they become an adult. this is the only pic I have of him as a chick but he more or less stayed the same color throughout his life. The color on the mottleds normally stays the same but they get more white with age. The splash do tend to wash out and become a very light color when bred with other splashes over time

I posted pictures a few weeks ago of my Silver Laced Cochin boys that I got from a BYC'er. Well I want to put them w/ my 2 White Cochin hens this spring and hatch a few eggs. Any idea what the chicks will look like?

first off it would depend if you they are dominant or recessive white. then you would go from there. I would say they will either be black or white

So what color is the second from the right, the red & white one? I LIKE him!

I have no idea. Found him at a swap meet. I am going to call him a white patterned red columbian, but I think he is the product of a mille fleur project. There were brothers with him that were closer to a mille fleur and crele pattern.

maybe just no one has an answer, I've never heard of them. possibly introduced and then bred back to cochin standards or maybe just someone trying to make a buck
