From what I've been told Lemon Blue is a cross between blue and red/brown. Haven't tried it yet but I'd love to start a project

there also has to be another cross to dilute the brown, but off the top of my head I don't remember what color it is that does that

Correct, Lemon blue cochins are made from Brown Red X Blue, will probably take a couple of generations to get them where you want them.

LOL
I really only have about 12 right now that are meaty enough. But I have 3 more pens of roos growing up so I have to see what is good enough not to send to freezer camp. I still have one roo that is about a year old that is too nice to go so he is still bumping around the farm. I am using his full brother in a breeding program so I kept him in case something happened and I needed a back up. We will probably send him to freezer camp this summer if no one wants to buy him. I have kids growing up from his brother so I feel a bit safer.

I have never put any of my Araucana roos in the freezer but I fear this year I will have to. I have several extras along with their Olive Egger offspring that can't stay. Once they start doing too much fussing with each other they need to go and I need the pen space.

Hey, I put up 2 pens this morning by myself. The dog kennel needs a roof but it is together and ready and I just need a gate for my other pen and it is done. I was looking around trying to figure who I could move around to go in them. The dog kennel is 10x10 but the other I may put ducks in since it is pretty big, 30x50.

Ahhh, breeding season!

I am still trying to verify genders of my New Year's hatched cochins. I hope I am not making anyone mad with my questions and pictures. If so, let me know and I can delete the posts and put them in the Breed/Gender section. I just thought I might get more useful opinions here.

These are the Mille Fleur bantam cochins. I am still holding out hope for a girl.

Here is Number 1 which I assume is a boy.

Here is Number 2 which I am hoping is a girl:

Here is Number 3 which I think is a boy:

Here is Number 4 which I also think is a boy:

So I think they are all roos except #2 in the individual shots and this group shot:

Anyone care to comment?

OK, now on to my Buff Barred split to Black Barred bantam cochins.

I think I have a pair:

Here's a close-up of the one I think is a girl:

Here's the pair of them.

Am I right?

I have noticed that if there is any black on the comb it usually is a girl.
I am saying trio on your last ones there.
You seem to have the hang of it alright. And you aren't bothering us by posting pictures of pretty babies!
