Looks like the crests on my Icelandics! They are naughty about escapes but I doubt they made it to Tennessee! It is a cutie, no matter what!

Oh my goodness! It does look like the crests on your Icelandics!! Too funny!!! The closest person to me that has Icelandics is Kim from Camelot Farms and I don't think her roos came to visit or my hens went to visit her roos. LOL Although I guess one of my girls could have hitchhiked when I went to visit.

This is a riot!! Now as for those "crowns". ROFL!!!!

Hmm I don't know. I'm trying to get a close up of the nasal cavity. I don't have any Polish to go by.
This "crest" thing is strange as well as this "crown of 6 points". I have to grow these things out to see what they look like as they grow.

Here's the white one.

I cannot believe you're rallying support for me. Im kind of bummed they didn't pick the cochins as my best entry... I think I would have more of a chance against gerbil

I'm so glad you posted that!! I was wondering why there weren't any Cochins! Gerbil's is really great, but as I posted, yours truly represents "Backyard" chickens. And besides, us Cochinites need to stick together!

Erin, did you not take your Columbians with you when you moved? I must have missed it. I didn't realize it until you left them off the Breeder's Directory. Or was it an oversight - let me know and I can fix if necessary.

Whoever told you this is right, and wrong. They are not a recognized variety by the ABA or APA, but can still be shown. The only thing they can receive is a BV or RV, they cant win BB or RB, or its class and so on. You can show ANY variety of ANY breed of chicken, wether the ABA or APA recognizes it or not, it can be shown. Thats why alot of breeders get really touchy about that term "SQ", any bird can be shown and say it is "SQ" because of the fact the bird has indeed been shown. That isnt entirley a lie, although its not very nice to do, especially for a profit. So dont fret, you can still show your birds. You just wont win any shows with a Splash Cochin.

I don't have an APA Standard at hand, but "Splash" is a recognized Plumage Variety in the ABA Standard. It is just not a recognized Variety for Cochins.

Gail, when I got serious about MFC, I quickly realized I didn't have the space necessary to do the job so I cut back. I was so obsessed, I let my columbians go:( I then moved and am on 25 acress!!! and now miss them terribly but feel bad asking Tom for some more. I just got a new hen from him the season before and didn't even hatch from her yet. She was really nice Im feeling now like I made a big boo boo... I may gain some courage by this fall

...stay tuned .... and maybe get some eggs from Tennessee Truly .. hopefully, the don't hatch out like freakoid chickens
