I think my roo has a bit more uniform color, but probably a bit too red:

Maybe a notch too red as far as ground color, but something to also keep an eye on is pattern in the hackle and saddle. Your male has red hackles up top and then it transitions to black hackles and cape without any striping or gold centers. I believe that the hackle and saddle pattern are directly related to how crisply marked the overall bird is so without well marked hackle and saddle we'll always be fighting mossiness and sketchy lacing. I know this is a Cochin thread but I found a couple good Wyandotte pics that provide what I feel are good examples of ground color and lacing. This pullet shows exceptional hackle markings.

Thanks to Poultry Keeper dot com and Matt Hanson for a couple nice photos.

This SL Male provides a good example of proper hackle and saddle markings.

That is some truely impressive lacing!

Just thought id share some better pics of the new birds I got on Friday. I hurried and took a couple, and it was really a dreary day so they birds didnt look great, especially after just arriving. But today was a nice day so I thought I would snap a few pics to share with you guys. Hope you enjoy.

As much time as we spend on this thread discussing getting our plumage patterns perfected, it always great to see White Cochins - beauty in its simplest, purest form!
