Very Nice Coopa! You must be very proud - love the feet!
My Sophie girl is now in full brood mode - about two days ago she started just mostly sitting on the nest and yesterday evening she popped off when I offered her a treat. Went outside grabbed some outside the coop treats came right back in and sat on the nest. Tonight/late afternoon when I went to check on everyone she was on the nest and gave mer seriouse stink eye and grumblings. Put a few BR and one penciled mix I have under her - didn't like it but she was okay. The penciled came in the coop to check things out and you would have thought there was going to be a rumble - mouth open, growling, deep sqwaking! very funny for a 11 month old hen. She does not have a lot of leg feathering but Sammy my mottled has a lot. She is pure black and he is black and white mottle with very nice heavy feathering - any idea? Will they split half black and some will come out mottled? Very curious....
Thanks and I am sooo excited! My BRs are new to the game too this year and they sit on the nest for a while and then abandon it, but we know the eggs are fertile (trust me, we have busy roos) and we have even taken several and hatched them out ourselves.
My poor little Blue Cochin baby is just looking sad with all the rain we've had and the coop is muddy now. His little pantaloons were wet today so I made sure to move the brooder light I have on for the cool nights here still so that all the babies can get under it without being attacked or scared off my the new mama to be. I have a bunch more cochins that go into lockdown on Monday and I am waaaay too excited
Blue/Red Cochins, some Silvers, Blues, Golds and partridges that will be locked down around May 5th - a little staggering going on with all the eggs.
Very Very excited though! Hoping they all hatch or that the hatch rate is good - I love the cochins - far too cute walking around in their pantaloons!
