hmmm now should I keep some and not get peachicks that is the question!

Do both.

I can't do both.

The cochins are not mine and for payment of hatching I get to pick between peachicks or cochins... at least I can't do both now. If I hatch for her again hopefully I can get some.

A very longggg time ago I said I was getting 15 Cochin bantams well that never happened...

But I should be getting 6 Cochin bantams in the mail tomorrow! (If they sent them today!)

My wife made hotel reservations when they opened them up for booking in November. If all goes well my wife, daughter and I will be there along with 20 or so LF and bantam cochins. The '06 show had 11,600 birds and I think this one will have 15,000 or more because it is a well run show in an excellent facility. An added bonus this year is that the ARBA National is going to be there at the same time, so if you love Rabbits and Poultry this should be close to heaven on earth. Look forward to meeting many new cochin friends and seeing all the long time friends as well.

Indy 2011!!!!!

There are several people claiming to have LF Lemon-Blue, but they appear to be Buff x Blue crosses.

Bo Garrett is working on LF Brown Red. I do not believe he has released any of these.

Candiss has Bantam Lemon-Blue and Brown Red. They appear to be very nice quality.

I do have brown reds but had a set back a few years ago and lost all my males. They breed true and have good breast lacing. I was able to raise one cockerel last year and mated him to his great grandmothers who are very nice females. I have only hatched 5 chicks this year as the old girls just don't lay as well and the shell quality on the eggs is weak now. I have not released any of these birds and probably won't until I have developed at least 4 lines of them for breeding rotation. These projects are very tedious and require much patience. I am going to start on birchen LF next spring so we'll see how many years that takes, the brown red project is in year 9 the brown LF project is in year 4.

Here are a couple of pics of my white chick. He/she is brooding with the last two chicks to hatch from my late Mille Fleur roo. "Snowball" is one week older than them.

I don't know if the pics show just how different his/her color is from their yellow. I'll try to take some more with a neutral background.

Very exciting!

I see one with a bit of Chipmonk pattern. What do you call the color of the other chicks? It looks like a honey or caramel.
