Cochin Thread!!!

This is a young cockerel, I think he's about ten weeks old. When he was little, he was blue, but when all the other chicks started feathering in, he stayed fluffy. It took him forever to feather out, and several times I thought about putting him down because he wasn't feathering out. He is out of my Brown Red rooster and a blue birchin hen. His tail isn't grown in yet, but I've got patience.

Both his parents are good type, and I love his color.

Here's my blue birchin hen (in my humble opinion) She looks like a black birchen, except she is a dark blue. I didn't have a birchen rooster, so I bred her with my Brown red rooster, and also my Silver laced rooster. I got a lot more of the silvers out of her, but only a few nice ones, that turned out silver laced.

Okay I am new to cochins. I just ordered some bantams from cackle and they will be here in two weeks.

I was wondering when they get older what should the rooster to hen ratio be? Also are cochin roosters nice to other roosters or do they fight a lot? I had sumatras so I don't know much about nice chickens. My sumatra hens would even fight like roosters if one of them stole a treat from the other.

Every rooster has his own personality. I had a little blue roo who has mean, mean, mean (he was given away). But that is the only one who was not really nice and calm. For the sake of the hens, I would not have too many roosters without plenty of hens for them. I have my "extra" roosters together in a bachelor pad, and they do fine together (once the blue trouble maker was removed).
