Anyone noticed certain lines of bantam cochins being a bit....er....aggressive?

Hello everyone!

I am selling young cochins and frizzles from this years hatch. I haven't figured out how to post pictures here, (on my to do list) but can send them via email. Local pickup, can deliver to Stevenson WA show mid October, or I will ship via USPS, and delivery to Crossroads a possibility as well.

Black, blue, splash, bantam pullets and cockerels. Frizzles in those colors too plus a few white frizzle cockerels.
Large fowl buff cochins both pullets and cockerels.

I do show from my breeders. APA/ABA master exhibitor. NPIP flock Washington State

I hope it's ok to list these here! Please someone let me know if it's not! Will try to post on auction site if I can figure it out.

yes. it is genetic. The hens of that line may be more inquisitive and not so shy. In the males, this manifests to nastiness. If he's gorgeous, keep him but, don't ever show him LOL.. Breed from him and select non aggressive males to put back into that line

Hi Sheryl! Anything we can do to help you post pics of your beauties, let us know! I know some people put their pics on photobuck or such and post them from there. I see you have a GFM - so you have lots of room here to let BYC host your photos. That's what I do, and it's super easy. Once they are loaded to BYC, I can also use BYC as my photo host for places like the CI Forum over on ShowBirdBid. The auctions here are also easy, once you get the hang of it. If you don't want to auction, there is a BST section over on the CI Forum, also.

Glad you found the Cochin thread!

Thank you Gail, I may have questions for you but the main thing I think is to sit down (undisturbed-which never happens) and learn all this stuff! For now I'm back to the chores though!

Now trying to make this post look like everyone else's and can't even figure this out. Tried to hit the "quote" and "post reply" and doesn't seem to do what I think it should do. Oh well!

Yep I have run across the same thing Have had to cull a few nice roos cause of that The worst I had was a really nice blue that could have been very easily shown who would hit the wire of his pen so hard it would bend But I give them 3 times and then its off to the meet the great chicken god in the sky It was a real shame with him But now I dont keep any that show how mean they are cause that will pass on and I dont want it

I had a little butthead of a rooster. He was fine at shows when he was out of his element......but at home, total little monster. When he lived with his previous owner, he used to follow her around biting her ankles

At my house he had his moments of biting me when I went to pick him up....and he picked fights with other boys incessantly to where he had to live only with girls (or chicks). He eventually just fell in love with me (ha) and never gave me another problem. He would follow me around the yard if he was out and liked to sit up on the arm of a chair if I was out there with him.

He died late summer from the heat.....and left behind 7 offspring (5 boys, 2 girls) that are now about 10-12 weeks old. They are horrible little monsters. He mellowed out with age, so i hope they do too. I have them in the main cochin pen with the adults...and when I stick my arm in there, I can pull it back with 2 or 3 clamped on and hanging off like little piranhas....even the girls are buttheads. I've given a couple boys some rude awakenings, so they seem to be learning.

But I am going to get a replacement rooster for my old guy who died....from the same line. Wondering if the new one will be as much a little poophead as he was......a friend has a boy from that line and hers is a butthead too. Its Jamie Matts line.......

I think the opposite is true too. I recently got a young barred pair; very calm and friendly, eat right out of my hand from day one. They are from a friend's line and all those males are especially sweet, love to hop on people's shoulders. the roo is especially beautiful, blue barring not black.
