LOL Sure when my spoiled bratz decide to lay again

It's like they hatched out two clutches and said OK we are done for the year. I sold 5 chicks and have 9 left. I need to see 5 of the nine grow out before I make any decisions on culling. But, that first chick cockrel I posted is like the nicest one! I hope nothing happens to him b/c my luck is the nicest one usually something bad happens etc.... It's just kinda my un-lucky thing sometimes.

I hope I'm wrong!

Sounds like my Sussex! Isn't that the truth!! I had a broody hen peck and kill my favorite Serama chick to death, it's head was all pecked open! I could have killed that momma hen!!

Course, it couldn't have killed one of the Guinea keets, or one of the mutt cockerels..Oh No!!

When they start up again, think of me.

My broodies hatch barnyard mixes all the time....head flock rooster is a blue cochin, so they are all cochin mixes.

Dad was a blue cochin rooster. Mom was probably an olive egger. Not sure on time frame and not positive which eggs were set in this batch (whoops).

However, there just aren't that many options. I have white leghorns and white leghornX, but those are dominant white and all offspring come out white.

Hence my project "paint cochins"

I have barred cochins, but their kids would be sex linked (all girls would be blue or black)

I have RIR and Easter/Olive eggers. Those are the only options that would be a possibility.

I think the mom is this bearded olive egger (on the left here)

I guess she could also be a RIR/Cochin cross? Hard to say......I get a lot of weird color crosses out of my cochin rooster and my layer girls.


I hadnt planned to sell her but would happily trade her for a nice mottled cochin

I have been telling you guys that I was going to get pics of the chicks I hatched earlier this year. I didnt get very many, and I took these over a week ago and these guys look different now but you will get an idea of what I hatched. These birds are between 8-12 weeks old. I hatched 11 so some of the birds are pictured more than once. Hope you guys enjoy. (Sorry ahead of time for all the pics. I cant help but go a little crazy, lol.)
