yes that is where I think people will need to get their starts. He did have some decent self blues that would make a nice start for someone. also one in particular that caught my eye was a self blue barred cockerel, could be interesting to see what you get with him, not correct but would be pretty yard candy

I'm working on the self blue/ lavenders, had planned on selling them a few weeks ago but started getting some nice chicks and thought I'd continue to work on the project. The only thing I don't like is the foot feathering, pretty thin. His wing feathers are too long too. Here's my roo:

Wow Twyla! They really are coming on nicely. I hope you stay with them because they are beautiful. I'm pretty sure Tom used/uses Blacks to get his type fixed and the self-blue works to dilute the black. You might take a look at Tom's site, he shows who he bred to whom.

So I have a color question.

I have 2 red partridge hens, and then I have a solid black roo. What color offspring would be created?

Thanks
Amy

So I have a Cochin pair (apparently, this IS Belize after all) and when they arrived both black but now the Roo has matured into this lovely sort of colour.

I can't really catch it with my camera, but he has pretty iridescent mahogany speckles throughout his body as well. Is this a recognized colour or just random Belizeaness?

is it going to continue to change? Or is this it?

I really love watching this pair. They're so round they look like they should roll rather than walk. So CUTE!

Looks to me that they wanted to lighten up the foot area so they took a big round photoshop brush and hit color dodge. You can see the circle outline of lighter color...

Actually, it's the opposite. The lighting was off and I was trying to darken the shavings area after I lightened the shadows to make the bird stand out more.
These are NOT my birds anyway! I volunteered to help take pictures. The captions clearly state whose birds they are.

Thank You for the pics.

Craig - do you know who had the Butterscotch? I've never heard of them before - very interesting color!

I think Richard Andree of Minnesota was the exhibitor of the butterscotch cochins.

There were some in the sale area also.

It was so lame that I missed Crossroads this year. I so wanted to go and chat with all my Cochin buddies and meet new people. In 06 I had the amazing opportunity to go to the first Crossroads, free of charge. Judy Gantt is a good friend of mine, as well as a fellow breeder as some of you know, and she asked me to ride with her and help take care of the birds she was showing. It was an amazing time then and I had so much fun hanging out and talking with fellow breeders and BYC friends. Maybe next time Crossroads comes around I can attend, and even show my birds as I am starting to get some pretty nice chicks. Would love to be able to get some of those Butterscotch birds, I have that little frizzle cockerel that would have wet perfect with them.
