Boy I wish I could take Austin's black boy..gorgeous birds!

We have cochins again! Now that we live in a colder climate we decided to go ahead and get a few. Here are some pics of them, gold laced bantams. Some at a few days old and now at 2 weeks old. Seem to be very sweet natured... hatchery birds and sometimes you can get real meanies in those mixes

Austin,
I hate to hear that you are getting out of Cochins - you've always had such good birds. I'd love to take that gorgeous blue hen off your hands, but I just don't have the room. I hope whoever gets your birds continues your hard work.

Darling, I love the bantam cochins.. They look like they are going to feather out real nice on the feet.

Just a quick question. We have a small flock of Bantam Cochins, my moms. They were decent layers, nothing big, but eggs at least. They started molt about 6-8 weeks ago along with the other LF birds. Not an egg since then. Everything else is picking the pace back up, but not these little birds. Same diet, same coop and same routine. Anything we are missing or are they going to take the winter off.

It's pretty normal - some birds come out of moult quickly- some much slower. I haven't collected one single egg in over a month. I do expect it to pick up sporatically through the winter.

Thanks. I hatched out one chick from their last eggs, and it is about 6 weeks old. I did hatch 2 chicks from the rooster, but they are mixed with Golden Comets. Maybe get some feather legged super layers.

This is my new Mottled pair from Mandy. I edited the pics to get rid of background clutter and in the process messed up the cockerel's comb. Oh well, what do you guys think of them besides that?
