I know what you mean. I've had birds for a year and a half now and they are absolutely delightful. Haven't regretted getting them once, even winterizing my pens today in 36 degree weather.

I have LOTS of bantam cochins, But reds are so hard to find and I want there to be MORE!

Almost like an endangered variety!

I love my birds and I want all cochin varieties to go on and on..

Red while not common is not as endangered as the Black Tailed Red. If you ever have any of those hatch out please let me know.

I saw a quad of young reds at an auction two months ago and I was soooo tempted. Now I wish I had gotten them. It was the only time I've seen them, but I just couldn't think of where to put them.
Course that didn't stop me from getting a decent barred pair two weeks later. The roo's color is quite light, almost blue barred and a very sweet boy.
I think my favorite color is whatever Cochin I'm looking at at that time.
We have alot of poultry auctions in this area of Oklahoma, almost one every weekend. Is this commor in other areas, or are there just alot of feather fans in OK?
I must add - Lots of auctions here but high quality birds are hard to find.

the one in the pic looked like it had black in the tail

I know he is a mixed color...but the roo in this pic...would you call him a Birchen Black Mottled?? I know he is a non standard/mixed color. I'm just trying to figure out what to call him.
I bought him about 5 months ago, because I just loved his color. He was a package deal, with a couple other black mottled cochin hens I bought.
