Cochin Thread!!!

Stephanie, that one looks ready for a picnic! I think a darker Splash would be great for you - I think they can often turn out much better colored, and not as washed out as Splash x Splash tend to get. Be sure you keep good records as they grow, so you know what to expect in the future. Is this your first hatch of the season? Congrats!

I just hatched 3 Splash!

One of them is darker, possibly a blue? Or, I hope, a darker Splash. Aren't they cute?

Well then, I'm going to have to post my golden laced cochins on here tomorrow to find out how i can improve their color and get more gold instead of red and black. The one that bred the right color died and haven't gotten another chick like her since.

I want those Cochins on page 853.

I am slightly confused, I think my roo is a partridge, but he does not really look like the one previously posted. His chicks are Partridge though, so he must be..?
Here he is. Don't mind the dog. Also, his comb seems really small and has a different shape compared to others I have seen.

I found a breeder of Silver Laced Cochins and she put some eggs in the incubator today! I'm excited to have quality birds

. The ones I have now were found through the classifieds.

I'm not sure if this is right, he looks like a brahmma and not partridge because partridges have black chest. Somebody please correct me if i'm wrong. You may want to try the brahma thread just to be sure though.

LOL well, that would suck.

I know we've all been thru this before, but it bears repeating:

This thread is for ALL Cochin lovers - whether you own show quality stock or pet quality. We are here primarily to help one another with raising, breeding and showing concerns, but we are also here to enjoy each other's pictures and common love of the Cochin breed - both Bantam and Large Fowl.

BUT, having said that, everyone needs to put more factual information with their pictures and questions. Give us as much information as possible up front - age, parentage, variety, etc. It will save everyone time and effort - and maybe save some feelings along the way. If you want a comment or critique, say so. If you don't want a comment or critique, say so.

And please, if you do want a critique, post as many photos as possible - front, side, back, even looking down at the top of the bird. And please, don't just say "What do you think? Try to be more specific - "I'm concerned about his wing carriage because . . . . ." , etc.

If you are not interested in improving your Cochin stock, I would suggest that perhaps a better place to post your pictures on would be the "Pictures of my Chickens" forum.
