Thank you ki4got I didnt know if it would pop up again 3 generations down the road or not as it would be in there And if it works like most other things once its in there it will pop up again Dont you mean that its a recessive gene ? A dominant gene takes over The chix from these eggs will be smooth x frizzled So I just dont breed the frizzled and I should be alright ?
Mike
My cochin eggs hatched! Now my questions is What color? I read Splash to black gives you all blue. But i have one that looks like black..
The one in the front is quite a bit darker... Is it still blue? And the rest are blue correct?
(the pasty butt was cleaned after the pics)
Now i think this one is a mottled. But the reason i am asking is because all the rest of my mottled chicks hatched with the same leg problems. They all have there legs sticking out in front and cant walk. Is it cuz they where pullet eggs?

Thank you for the help.a quick note for those having picture problems... once you get the pictures loaded into the editor, you can click and drag them where they're supposed to be. make sure you put them on their own line, or they do mess up the text formatting too. (quick hint... type out everything first, put the cursor on the line you want it to go on, and add it. but don't move the mouse or cursor until th pic is loaded or it'll jump to where the mouse/cursor is.)
Sounds like the chicks may have spraddle leg. That is a nonhereditary problem that can be fixed by taping their legs in the proper position. Band aids work very well for this problem.
The chick looks like it may be a Mottled, but what tells the tail is whether they have what looks like a tuxedo, darker body color and white bib all the way down the front and your other chicks have to be Blue if they are from a Splash/Black mating. The dark one just may be the Navy Blue that you are hoping for.
