Cochin Thread!!!

Just want to remind everyone that the next Cochins International Newsletter will be going out sometime in the last two weeks of May. As Matt said in the Poultry Press, the mailing list is being purged of all non-current members BEFORE the Newsletters go out. Postage costs have our hands tied - we simply can't cover the costs of the unpaid members. So please be sure that your membership for 2012 is up-to-date. If you are unsure, you can contact Matt McCammon directly.

And remember, you don't have to be an Officer or Director to submit an article for the Newsletter - just contact Linda Tobia. The current submission deadline for the May Newsletter is May 15th. Ad space is also now available for sale in the Newsletter - see the website for more details.

I also want to remind all CI members that we offer free links to all current member websites on our "Member Links" page. You can contact me with your information.

I've been trying to teach my chickens to jump in my hand on command. it's working sorta.

I can get my roo Hutch to come to my shoulder, then "step up" to my hand, and he gets cheese. if I try to give him the cheese before "step up" he falls all over himself and flogs me in attempt to get it.

I just bought my new cochins from Lynne. Can't wait for them to arrive.

JHeintz sells cochin eggs on the BYC auction. I had purchsed eggs earlier this year and thought I'd show off some of the young birds that were hatched. They are now about 12 - 15 weeks of age and I'm beginning to see the roo wattles develop. We have a nice number of pullets. (That's a Blue Quail d'Anvers in the second picture with the splash Cochin)
