Cochin Thread!!!

any soap will help. i think, from past experience, getting the majority of it off is the biggest hurdle. the feathers may be permanently stained depending on the kind of grease/oil. hubby's a mechanic and i can say for sure some of it will never wash out of some things. after a particularly nasty transmission job, even his hands are stained for upwards of a week. and he uses both soaps and hand scrubs several times a day...

i would say get the worst of it off, and resign yourself to having a non-white bird. LOL or you can pull the feathers that are stained the worst if it really bothers you. they'll grow back in about 6 weeks.
Thanks. I will wash her as well as I can but I'll just leave the feathers on her. She's not a show bird so she doesnt have to be perfect I just was wanting to get the grease and such off her. thank you so much everyone for all the suggestions and comments. :)

Thanks
Thank you also. Does Ivory work good on the greese from the bottom of the car, or should I just use the dawn for that part and something milder for the occasional washes.

For grease I probably would use Dawn and something milder for the normal washes in the future.

I use a bear. LOL They lay on top of it.
Ha! That makes me think of the Warner Brothers cartoon with the very big dog and the tiny kitten. I don't have that problem now - lots of chicks! By broody Black split to Self-Blue just hatched 4 , 2 of them are Self-Blue! The hens do a much better job than my incubator.

After months of looking for replacement Cochins after ours were killed by a weasel last fall, I would like to introduce you to our newest babies .... Blue, Bluebelle (BB for short), Smurfette and Cody. 3 Blue Cochins and one I don't remember what kind

Hoping that Blue is the only Roo that we have.

They are too young for my daughter to show for 4H this year but will be ready to go for next year.

Ah, I want another blue!! Something took my girl right out of our yard a little over a month ago, I never saw what it was, but found a trail of her feathers than a patch of feather but never found her body.

They are sooooo cute.

well, i want to get into the reds, but the funds aren't there to do it. i've got some health issues that have forced me to cut back some at work, and i'm looking at possibly being out of work short term as well. so i've got 3 red eggs in the incubator that i'm crossing fingers for, but they were shipped so no clue even if they'll develop yet. they went in last night. i would love to have your birds, but unless they just happen to arrive at my door, i don't think there's any chance i'll get a start on them soon.
