Cochin Thread!!!

not in the US... i did find this yesterday, and it's great to look thru to see the cochins over in europe (germany i think?)

it appears that there are more varieties accepted over there, and they seem to be close to perfecting the mille fleur.

edit: also interesting to note, self blue in europe IS known as Lavender...
They have Mille Fluer in other countries that are just stunning as far as color goes. And something I have noticed as well, they have also nearly perfected the Porcelain variety as well, and I must say it is to die for on a Cochin. If you bing search Porcelain Pekin(s), it shows a few pictures. They seem also to be leaps and bounds ahead of us in perfecting other colors as well, just like Self Blue and Chocolate.

Finally the temperatures have broken, no longer in the 100's and 2 days of beautiful rain. I did not lose one bird and they have all come out in great health and strength. Enjoyed their watermelon lots! Lol
Supposed to be in the 80's all week now.....so nice :)

Our temp broke also, but we didn't get any of the MUCH needed rain yet. I'm praying for it.

Our temps finally broke, and the monsoon rains hit hard this weekend, and still into this morning. Good for extinguishing/containing most of our fires - not so good as the burn areas are now having flooding and mud slides. When the vegetation is burned off, there is nothing to hold the runoff.

Yeah, you guys are sort of in a no win situation. My thoughts are with you, maybe you can get a nice slow rain that will soak in.

Above a 2012 hatch Cockerel. Definitely not show material but thinking of keeping him as a breeder.
the primaries that he does have a little white on the leading edge

His cush. Less shafting than most I hatched. Seems the lighter the bird the more pronounced the shafting
