Cochin Thread!!!

ok, i'm sorry... but what is/was the project? what did you start with and what is your goal??
they are gorgeous birds as-is, but i'm curious what has gone into bringing them this far.
They are initially a BLB x Doerr GLC, the resulting offspring was then bred back to Doerr GLC, thus 3/4 Cochin, 1/4 project Brahma. They will be crossed back to GLC next year making them 7/8 Cochin.

Very pretty!!

Ok... does anyone here have red cochins? i've been looking at some locally, and they're more orange than red IMO... I thought they were supposed to be closer to a mahogany shade of red...

The Millers in Missouri and Annamay are the best reds I have seen.Reds are not in great shape as a variety in my opinion . I am talking bantams. I don't know of LF Reds. Perhaps Bo

I was talking bantam myself. I should have specified.

I'll have to look them up i guess.

Great job, Clare!! I think they're gorgeous, and will be a welcome addition to the Cochin varieties!!

I just wish there were better typed GLCs out there to improve them with. Things would go faster.
