Cochin Thread!!!

Can someone tell me what color this girl is? She was given to me this summer after I saw her and fell in love at first sight. She has caused me to seek out a roo for her but I would love to know if she is a specific color or just a mix. Thank you.

I am by no means a cochin expert, but isn't she a silver-pencilled? If not, feel free to chime in!

This is a Silver Penciled owned by a friend. The difference is: The breast lacing or lack of is a mess and shafting everywhere as well as little penciling. That is why I said Columbian X Partridge which will get you a poorly penciled silver based mix(a mix with some Columbian and some SP/Partridge chacteristics. Type on that bird is pretty good including eye color.)

Quote: I think you are getting closer - either a poorly marked silver penciled, or possibly a silver penciled x columbian? The red/gold leakage on the breast has me in a quandry. Which is why, I think, BCB said Partridge rather than Silver Penciled.

I actually think she has possibilities. I'd like to see more close-up pictures from different angles. For a lesser-seen variety (or mix), I think her type is above average.

Okay, so when you say Decent type, what does that mean?

Here are some more pictures of her.

I would love suggestions as to which type of bantam cochin roo I should breed her with.

I think by decent type they mean pure cochin just mixed colors. She has a very nice body shape for a cochin.

If you want to get babies that "look most like'" her I think a silver pencilled rooster would work. Or someone with more experience than me may suggest to breed her back to an original color.

Her colors are intereting and she is pretty.

I agree that a Silver Penciled is the closest I would recommend.
