I have enjoyed my medical career.

After 46 years of nursing it was time to retire and I retired my license as well.

I will always be thankful for all the types of nursing I was able to participate in.
I retired my license in 2015. DH asked me if I was sure that was what I wanted to do and I was certain. After 40 years of nursing I was starting to feel like a dinosaur. It was time to pass the torch to the younger generation. I'd earned my stripes.

Did OB, MED/SURG, Pediatrics but I learned the most about nursing while working at a rehab/nursing home. 165 beds. Saw everything imaginable and a few things they never taught us in school. Knew drugs, knew symptoms, learned how to trust my instincts and follow them. Did that work for almost 10 years. My gravy job was working with my husband though and being my own boss. On one busy day, he came up front and apologized to me for all the stress. I looked at him and cracked up laughing.

You call this stress? I haven't heard anyone yell CODE! at the top of their lungs or had a patient take a swing at me. I told him I'd let him know with the job got stressful but so far it hadn't happened.

Afternoon all. Sitting there drinking iced green tea. More available for the asking.

Good morning - coffee is ready.

Have MOHS scheduled for next Tuesday just anterior to my right ear. My advice to the surgeon has always been take more - not less. I don't want to come back. My glory days (if they ever existed) are gone. I choose health over looks. Who knew all those hours in the sun would come back to haunt us?
Good luck next week, Sour. That is the beauty of MOHS. They take just enough to make sure the cancer is gone.

Guy sitting near us in the waiting room yesterday went ahead of my husband. DH wished him luck. He was an older man and chuckled 'they are just taking a chunk out of my ear. Nothing I will miss.'

He must have had the same attitude.

DH asked the doctor if he could do some work on the other side of his face so he would be evenly 'tightened up' on both sides. I told him he was getting a face lift a whittle at a time on that side.

Good luck with your procedure.

Hope they take enough to get it all.

DH asked me this morning how I liked the coffee. My sweety makes coffee in the mornings when I get up later than he does.

Told him it was yummy. He confessed that he has been mixing decaf with regular for me the past few days.

I gave him a hug and a smooch. As long as my body likes it, I'm happy as a clam in the sand where nobody can find it.
