Here's how I would describe fruitcake.

Very sweet, sticky, full of candied fruit. Nuts if you like. Some have brandy or another spirit added.

Sticky enough that if you pick up a piece and eat it as finger food, you'll need to wash your hands afterward. It would be absolutely AWESOME with coffee!
My Mom would make the Christmas fruitcake before Thanksgiving. She wrapped it in cheesecloth and put it is a tin cake holder. Every week she poured a jigger of Crown Royal whisky on it. By the time it was served the children were not allowed to have any!
 
Okay, y'all talked me into ordering a fruitcake. Please tell me that Claxton makes a good one. I've had theirs in the past. :fl
I remember when the interstate highways did not exist that we traveled right by a Claxton fruit cake store. Don't remember ever stopping. I've heard that they were the best and that they were not worth the powder to blow them to............
There is only one way to find out.... I hope your investment pays off.
