She sat and hatched a batch for ya?
How was her 'condition' during that time...and now?
She was fine aart. She's a good sitter. Up and out every morning with the tribe. Half an hour away from the eggs usually. Careful on her return to the nest. She's a bit relaxed about who gets in the nest with her, but it seems to work.
There is of course the chance that whatever her problem was breeds on in the chicks. So far they all seem fine. She's not that good at being mum viewed from my perspective but what do I know.

Notch from Tribe 3 sheltering Donk (the balck and white blob underneath him) as she lays her first egg of the season. Lucky to catch them.

Oh well, in that case........
Most of Tribe 1 (Treacle was on escort duty somewhere) on the East bank.

Oh man, now you're just being mean! DH was in Catalonia during a bike ride the March before we met. He said everything was green and beautiful. He said he spent 10 days riding in the San Mateo mountains.

We have at least another month of cruddy weather before we will start looking for the first wildflowers to pop up in the timber and the daffodils to brave the cold.

I'm ready for it. I'm thinking about tossing some Fayoumi eggs in my brinsea and seeing what I hatch. Tut the EF rooster has been doing his duty to the hens but every now and then I see one of the other roosters sneak some time with one of them. Since cross breeds are my goal, I tell the boys to have at it.

I need to get a pic of Mo, my half Fayoumi half God only knows rooster from last spring. He's gorgeous and knows it, the conceited little twirp.

Love Fayoumies.:)

So do I @Shadrach. I bought them last year as an experiment as I've had Marek's disease in my flock almost since day 1. My local raised Amish cross barnyards, part Game BIrd, part cochin, part who knows seem more resistant to the disease. I'm hoping that the EFs, which are naturally resistant to Marek's and a lot of other chicken ailments will cross with my resistant birds and I'll have a flock with better longevity and health.

So far I really love these birds. They aren't cuddly like my oegb silver duckwings but they are hardy, independent and pretty....and so far alive.
