Love the Marans... They have such easy-going personalities and the eggs are gorgeous. If they were production layers they'd probably be more popular. They are feed hogs, though.

Vet is stymied. Eye pressure is okay. No evidence of injury. Blood tests next. Dog is looking funny at her, too, with her googly eyes.

Not guess on eye's ... Just out of blue huh puzzle of the day ...
I have the marans I do have in a seperate coop was not doing to do that .. Well I am

G'morning, all!
For some reasons my critters always seem to require veterinary attention on holiday weekends.

Or the day before you are leaving on a vacation. As a kid I assisted at a veterinary clinic. It appears that all c sections must occur after midnight. MANY a call I received asking if I could come in to help.

That has to be annoying as all get out Cap ... Morning one more marans out.
The marans eggs are all hatching all blue mine are called blue got to be a roo in their right
At least the chick buyer today showed up, and we traded roosters too.

Went out to the coop yesterday to find little black feathers outside the coop door. When I went in there were black feathers every where. I looked around but did not see any bird. I put the frozen watermelon in the shaded area and that's when I saw the bird. It was void of all tail feathers. I finally cornered the bird but before I could pick it up the chickens got hold of it again. I finally picked it up and put it in a bag. Back to the house with the bird. Had my husband come out and he told me is was a morning dove. She was so bad he had to put her down. We talked about having to up hardware cloth over the chain link.

I'll take a cup of that coffee, Sour, to wash down the Naproxen.

Fell in the garden yesterday and managed to land on part of a pointy tree growth at ground level. Didn't break the skin, but there's a lovely bruise across my hip and rump. Finished my garden tasks yesterday, but stiff enough today to warrant a true day of rest. Fine by me as I've been growing a stack of magazines.

Chicks are hatching. Nine out so far.

Dog back from the vet and on a regimen of prednisone. Her eyes are fine (no undue pressure nor injury), but she's got some sort of auto-immune response that is causing her eyelids to contract, thus making the appearance of bulging googly eyes. Apparently a condition seen in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and retrievers, but not so often in Greyhounds. Who knew?
