Coffee's ready...

Hey, I remember the radio announcer saying "and it's UP to minus fifteen right now..." growing up in north central Indiana and such. Sorry for whining - I could be back there (brrrr, shiver, shake). It was walk 10 mins for a 20 min bus ride, or cut across the corn fields and be there in 20 at the high school. Not so bad in summer, but if I'd miss the afternoon bus in winter...funny, I don't remember being cold, just how pretty it was. I shiver now just thinking about it. Is that what old people do? drat.

We walked to school in the same conditions, up hill both ways, through drifts of snow. The horse team even froze to death in their tracks. You had it good though. We had no shoes!

Morning chicken wranglers
My flock is in bad shape. I left for work at 4 am and had my 2 kids take care of the animals! What a mistake ! Thay thought that ment the horses cows and mules were animals and the chickens were left in the coop all day no food no water. Well you know how chickens are , they tried to eat each other and the poor devils look a fright. Several of the roos have their tale feathers gone. When I went in at sun down they were all so mad that they were trying to bite me. I fed and watered them in the coop but couldnt shut the door fast enough to keep one roo from escaping, now he has frost bite in his comb. I'll just have to butcher him soon! Needless to say now the kids are on chicken cow and horse feeding detail indefinitely, to reinforce the proper sense of responsibility.Pray for my flock, just kidding.

Morning everyone, just finishing up the coffee. I need to get it in gear and do my Chicken chores. My Oldest DS if leaving today. I am so sad. I sure loved the visit we have been having.

Karl, I hope your flock gets better and that your kids have learned a very important thing.

Everyone have a super day.

Good Morning! It is Friday AND the start of my vacation! I will hug my adult sons good bye, and the chickens and the cat, and grab my suitcase and (dread) go to the airport. Whew! all sorts of instructions for the chickens. A freezer full of pizza, a big pan of lasagna in the frig. I think I'm ready.

Stupid you are up early.I had to start work early this morning, was not hard to wake up. My 4 year old was hogging the bed again , may be he will sleep on his own by the time he is 30.It is nice here today but rain and snow mix is on the way. Maybe the deer will just give themselves up to me tomorrow trade in the winter life for after life in the oven.Everyone have a good week end. Tonopah i wish your son a safe trip home and all of you good fortune for the future. God bless!
