Morning all! Brrrrrrrr.... it's c-c-cold here, too! Looks like I have to wait a bit to move our newbie out to the coop. She's probably gonna be shell shocked when I do.

Hope to meet ChickyLaura at the auction later tonight. She'll be the first one I meet from BYC. I'm stopping at another auction this morning where I put up some items for auction. Hope they sell, I need to get rid of some stuff.

I'm cutting out coffee for a while but I had some hot chocolate. Need to cut way back on the caffiene. No headache so far!

Hopefully it stays that way! Well, have a good day everyone!

Good morning, all! It's 40 degrees out now, and it's supposed to go up to 62 degrees. Oh well, can't appreciate the really pretty days if you don't have not-so-pretty days to compare them to! It's supposed to be sunny but it's overcast so far.

Hello, Scoop!

It was nice meeting you the other night! I ended up buying 2 Cochin bantam chicks and 3 polish chicks. They are so cute!

I also bought 10 buttercup eggs and 10 wyandotte eggs that went in the bator yesterday. I already had a dozen in the bator so it's pretty full. Plus 3 broody hens in the coop.

Honestly though, I'm getting ready for Chickenstock on May 23rd!

Math ace, enjoy your weather today! I'm jealous for today, but geez - I really couldn't take the heat down there in the summer. We went to Orlando last June and I ended up sick in bed for over 24 hours due to the heat. I felt horrible! I do love the south, especially coastal South Carolina.

Anyway, it's nice having another day off. That's one of the "joys" of working every other weekend - I get one day off every week. Nice! Today I NEED to get working on the coop since I'm up to my ears in chicks, and more on the way... Our coop takes up half of our "shed", but DH said I could have the other half. Our shed is the lower floor of our two story garage, and it's about 10' x 20' but that's just a wild guess. It could be larger. It's actually a pretty nice setup. I have a pretty large area I use for a brooder and I have a separate "room" that I could use for breeding.

I have decided that I won't be on BYC for hours today... So I'll be signing off soon! Have an awesome day everyone!

Enjoying my first cup of coffee.
and its a bit chilly this morning,
the flock is not as noisey as usual,
I guess giving them at 5
yesterday extra Sunday treats made them a happy bunch.
Enjoy your day.

Morning everyone!

Laura, it was nice meeting you, too! Boy did I get a headache on the way home from the sun glare!!!
I've been having eye trouble lately and man that glare threw me for a loop! But anyway, you have to tell me - how much did you pay for the polish chicks? And the bantams? Do you know how much those precious goats went for? How about the cute litte piggies? If I would have stayed I'm sure I would have come home with those EEs!! That is a really neat auction. I can't believe all those different birds there. I could get an addiction to them quickly.

I don't want to look at the temperature yet. It's probably in the upper 30's. We put our new fluffy butt out in the coop Sunday. She was shell shocked as predicted. Yesterday she just stayed in the corner mostly, but by night she was walking around a little. We put a heat lamp on her side of the coop and when I snuck out after dark to check on her she seemed fine and wasn't cold.

Still not drinking coffee and no headache! I can't believe it! Maybe I'll just have ONE cup... Yeah, right! Like just eating one potato chip! Have a good one everybody! Enjoy whatever it is you're drinking!

good morning chicken wranglers
It is a beautiful day here ! I picked up 21 cornish rock chicks for summer butcherin, cant wait to fry those babies up or roast em on the grill, bout two months out I guess. Those peta folks just dont know what a great thing they are missin by not eating meat. Animals is for eatin I say, fish? hook and cook.never heard anything as ridculous as sea bunnys! San francisco's meat free mondays? baaa humbug to that! fire up the grill!

Morning all! Well, I cheated today and had 2 cups of coffee! Sisssy, I'm envious of your weather. I'm still shivering here. Blizzard is doing great and walking around more. She seems to be studying the older hens. Karl, I totally hear ya on the meat issue. And if you harvest it yourself it's soooo much better. I did the cornish already and they are totally awesome!!! Best I ever had. I definitely want to do them again (no matter how much I hate butchering them.)
I've had a few days off of work and boy do I miss it. I know, most people don't feel that way so don't tell me! So sad how many are out of work and want to work. Well, guys, have a great day!
Oh, and ChickyLaura - how are your new ones doing?
