Coffee's ready...

Morning all. Laura is right, cold day on tap for PA. Sorry to hear about your loss Laura. Things sound so crazy for you lately. Hope it smooths out for you soon. That Amish auction is in Beaver Run near Washingtonville. If you go to auctionzip.com and put in your zip code you should see it. That might be like 50 miles from you. I decided not to go. I'm not in the position to buy anything right now. They have that twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. They always have tons of stuff. Like all kinds on new and used furniture, quilts, pressure canners, pots and pans, chickens, rabbits, cows, woodstoves, fencing, lumber, nails, shingles, nesting boxes, tons of plants, including trees. It's amazing. Maybe I'll look out for that in the fall if you want to go. Just plan on being there ALL day if there is something you really want. They usually have several auctioneers selling stuff off at the same time. Well, hope everyone is enjoying their coffee!

Thanks, Scoop, for thinking of us! You know, this all started when I wanted to take my stupid "mental health day"!

The following day I had to take off because my youngest had to go to the doctor for an ear infection, and now this... No more "mental health days" for me!

I would be interested in going to that auction in the fall, it sounds like a lot of fun! I just hope it doesn't fall on a weekend that I work. I bet I could have a lot of fun there! I just cannot buy any more chickens! I'm good for a long time. I will be heading out to the auction tonight, and I'm trying to drag DH with me to get him out of the house. I think I'm going to run down to the farmers market to look for a good chicken to throw in the oven for supper.

Well, have a good day! "Talk" to you all later!

Hey there I saw you posted you like Maxwell House coffee...I believe I have a coupon or two for free coffee from them if you are interested. I can mail them to you if you'd like.

We're in Eastern PA and it was to be cold (high 40's/low 50's) cloudy, and a chance of showers on and off all day but today, (Saturday) ended up being beautifully sunny but waaay cold with the whipping wind. Where did that come from? We were wanting to work on our coop as well.

Where is the auction? Our way there is only one auction place that I know of so far on Mondays. They have a very small amount of livestock and alot of times it isn't the best looking. I sure would love to find a few more places that would be fun to go to if anyone cares to share some locations in PA and I will have to check out that site too, thanks

Also I am sorry for your loss and don't worry about work for sure. I would think the courthouse will excuse you from jury duty too.

It sure does sound like my life is filled with drama right now! But, we'll get through it. It's times like these that make you appreciate those "boring" days. I love when my kids say, "Mom, I'm bored". I don't think they like my answer, but I tell them to enjoy it!

Adults don't have the luxury of being bored. I guess it's just part of life.

Thank you all for your thoughts and kind words, I really appreciate them! I am lucky to have (generally) understanding supervisors, so thankfully work isn't an issue.

Leeandtina, did you say "free coffee"! What is that saying, "If it's free, it's for me!" I'll send you a PM, and thank you!!!

I think there's a website auctionzip.com that lists different auctions. Where is the Monday auction? I remember going to one when I was a kid, the one I'm thinking of is down towards Telford or somewhere in that general area.

These auctions are the ones I know of:
-Saturday evenings at 6:30 at Renninger's in Schuylkill Haven on Rt. 61 - Small animal auction (although last night they had calves, goats, and pigs as well as chicks, etc and cages)
-Tuesdays - Root's. I don't know anything about this place but my co-worker loves it there. She said they have animals there and she goes often.
-Wednesdays - Leesport, also right off of Rt. 61. They have a livestock auction there. I haven't been there in awhile, but I remember seeing calves and goats.
- Friday evenings - Green Dragon in Ephrata. I was there last year and they had a large auction and sold lots of small animals, including chicks, chickens, guinea pigs, fancy birds, you name it.

Well, my coffee's just about done brewing. Today I'm going to make a big pot of chicken soup - we had a delicious roast chicken last evening. Today the rest of the chicken's going into the pot. Mmm! Have a great day everyone!

good morning chicken wranglers
It is good to wake up above the grass again.Sun is out. I took care of my chicks and my bigguns this morning, they don't get coffee but they sure are up early. I had to chase the cow out of the horse trough 2 times this morning, the old girl is stubborn.
I spent 2 days mending and tightening the fences this week end, That old tenn. walker just plays heck on the fence trying to eat the grass on the other side, so now I strung barbed wire on the top. He'll pay to play now! Ya'll have a great week!Chic laura tell those kids if they are bored to clean the screens. It is what my mother did to us and we learned not to mention it any more because there were plenty of chores to do.

Coffee is so good this morning. What a chilly weekend we had! It was 30 here this morning!

Oh, well, can't do nothing about it! Hey Laura, now I have to check out that auction you mentioned near the Telford area. That's where I lived most of my life so I should be able to figure out where it is. I had been a regular at Kemler's in Bloomsburg but they haven't had anything I'm even remotely interested in lately. That's Saturday nights. My oldest DS got me into auctions. He collects old car magazines and records mostly. Yes, I said records. He only owns a couple of CD's. He has an amazing collection of good music and rare records. For instance, ya know that theme song that Edith and Archie sing for All in the Family? Well, he's got the 45 and the flip side is a jazz version of the same song. I'm was surprised I had never heard it before! And believe it or not I love that version! He needs to be a DJ I think!

Well, gotta go! Need to get the egg signs out!

Good morning, Friends!

Karl - I think you need to put a strand of hot (New Zealand style) electric horse tape on top of your wire. One zap of that and that horse'll mind his manners!

No school this week!

So today, I will work at cleaning up all the hatching gear, since that's done for a while, plant some cucumber, etc seedlings, plant gladiolas and dahlias outside, repair a window, and get out the screens and wash them - I wish I had kids for that chore.

And of course, practice my saxophone.

I hope I have enough energy left to go to the Monday night contradance in the next town over.

Have a great day. It's supposed to get up to 55 today - after what we have been experiencing, that counts as a heatwave.

Hello all!

I see we have a beautiful day on tap here! I'm cleaning and cooking today. FIL's funeral is tomorrow and I'm making a funeral luncheon. With the strained relationships on DH's side of the family, who knows who will show up. At least my mom, brother, and possibly my aunt will be coming up from down near Philly to show their support for my DH. I wasn't terribly close to my FIL, but it's hard seeing DH so sad right now. But he was there for me when my Dad passed away, so I'm doing everything I can to help.

DH is lying down in bed, kids are at school, and I'm enjoying a few minutes of peace and quiet. Chickens are fed and watered, and running around after treats in their run - so they're happy! I've got laundry on the line and some in the dryer, and another load in the washer. I've been behind on laundry (sheets, blankets, pillows) so today is a great day to get that done. I'm also washing winter coats so they can get put away. Don't think we'll really need them too much longer.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day!
