Coffee's ready...

Good morning! Well, I went to make coffee in the little coffee pot I have here in my office, and in the process the handle on the sink faucet popped off, hit the pot, and broke it. I ended up walking up to the Prinicpal's confrence room to steal some coffee from there. It's way better than the watery coffee I got from the faculty break room the other morning. Now my day can start!

I'm still suspicious of that EE. Her tail feathers are getting some irredecence to them. The other day she charged the cat head-on, neck puffed up. I know the pullets do that type of thing, too, but boy it was BOLD. It also looks like it's time to clip wings on her. Yesterday she was quite please with herself after flying up to the top of the fence and surveying her domain. She went up and down a few times, like she was just so impressed with herself that she could get up there! I guess I'll know soon enough.

Karl - I always hear people saying missing heads usually means racoons.

Well, have a lovely day.

chicks - - - I haven't clipped any of my birds wings . . . It is so funny. When I take everyone to the "PARK" ( the free range area), I leave the coop door open. The leghorns will fly over the fence, go in the coop lay their egg, and then fly back to the "PARK". I have one marans that can do the same thing. . . The other girls have too much junk in their trunks . . . so they just pace up and down the fence line, sticking their heads through the fence, just trying to find a spot big enough that they can get through to the coop to lay their eggs.

ALSO, chicks, I have twins who when they were young - -- one loved the swing and one hated it. The one that hated it would scream non-stop in the car and the one that loved it would go to sleep instantly in the car. She would SLEEP though her brother's screaming !

GUESS who LOVES roller coasters NOW and who can not stand them - - - she the swing master HATES them and He the screamer LOVES THEM - - Go Figure !

My Gerty is not an EE - but she deffinately chases the cat head on with heckles up!!!! She is a vicious wee girl and you should have seen the mess she made of the poor Rooster we borowed ? The chicks are suspiciously like her and Isobella the other hen we call the Buzzards for good reason!!!!

Karl - So sorry to hear of your loss - I do think its probably Racoons though Rats will take only heads to. I don;t think you have stotes or Wezzles over there but they have been known to take only heads too.

Well we've had an interesting day all round. DH wants to buy a campervan - You guys would call it an RV. Only thing is we really don;t have anything like the money to get a really nice one. So we've been looking at all sorts of old ones with the thought we would buy one and do it up and sell it on or trade up. What do you all think??? We just thought it would be fun to have as we loved Camping and caravaning but DH isn;t able for that now. He still drives but can;t go great distance due to his back so it would give us the option to stop were we want. Also not having the caravan to tow means DH wouldn;t be having to lift it onto the tow bar. Were thinking if we get one now we can work on it over the Winter and it will give DH a project.
- We have big dreams of having a lovely new big RV/Motorhome/ Campervan - in years to come so that we can take our Jessy over to the continent and explore, as we will have no ties. - Well apart from Chickens and the Dogs??? And Danny who can;t come with us Ohh yeah and then there are the goats and piggys DH wants and the veg garden???? UM UR well, but then Dotty would stay and house sit. So well its a big dream. I think it will take a lot of trading up as the nice Vans are well over £20'000 not sure what that would be in $ ???
Anyhow that is our mad idea - ????? Are we crazy!!! I recon by the time we get one suitable Jess will be old enough to have a good grasp of education and will enjoy learning by experiencing folk, places and cultures. - Of course we will only be going to look after her - yeah thats it!!!!!!!!!

Oh - the little yucky van we found is practiacally falling apart we haven;t bought it yet and we already call her "grotty!" - I guess we have to start somewhere?

Oesdog - I am insane arn;t I? - coffee off a camp stove in the wild???? Ummmmm??

carmel, milk, sugar, vanilla... something tells me i will be going overboard on my Weight Watchers points today!

I am visiting the coffee shop this evening with a beer, as it is much too late for coffee but I wanted to show you my pride and joy, Oesdog (next to my son and my chickens, of course):

That is "Rambling Rose", my '89 Volkswagon Westfalia camper van. I bought her so I could keep on camping as a single mother with a baby, and it's perfect. No trailers, no major set up. So easy - just turn her on and put her in gear. It takes me about 20 mintues to hook up to a site, pop up the top, and throw down some sleeping bags. It is also really nice to have the sink inside, especially when I was still dealing with bottles. I bought her with the money I got from selling my late DH's car. Should I have saved it for a rainy day instead? Nah. He would have approved. We've had so much fun in it already. I think about selling it now that I have BF to help me when we camp, but I don't think I could bring myself to do it.

Math Ace - for the last three months or so I figured my chubby BR was too big to fly over the fence and hadn't bothered clipping her wings, then two days ago I came outside and there she was, pacing along the wrong side of the fence, sticking her head through the holes!! I don't worry too much about them flying into my neighbors' yards, but an alley runs along the back of my property where there is a fair amount of traffic - and dogs. Clipping party this weekend!

I'm adding this pic to show you how the back makes a little crib if you leave the seat up:

Hehe, I like the idea of the tow rope!!

The cake bars are really easy!! For both you need a shortbread base which i make with cornflour and riceflour but only because i can't eat wheat, a normal shortbread recipe is what most people use, If you don't have one give me a shout!!
For the blueberry cake bar you need to whisk 500g cream cheese (for about 5 mins until it is really creamy, I do it in my Mr Kenwood
wink.png
), then add 2 eggs, and 170g sugar and whisk well! Fold in 75g dried blueberries and pour over already cooked shortbread base! Cook at 190/375/gas mark 5 for 15-20mins, it should be slightly wobbly when you remove it from the oven, cool and eat with coffee
gig.gif

For the millionaine shortbread i just chuck a tin of condensed milk, 150g butter and 150g sugar in a pot and stir (it does burn easily if you don't keep stirring! the longer you cook the thicker it will become but watch you don't end up with tablet or toffe lol) until biscuit coloured and slightly thicker. Pour over the already cooked shortbread and cool. Melt chocolate (i like tesco's own chocolate for this as i HATE cooking chocolate) but use what you want and pour it over the top of the cooled filling! I would cut it into slices just before the chocolate has hardened. I normally keep this in the fridge along with the blueberry one but it doesn't last long to be honest!
Let me know if you try it!!!

AND I LOVE THIS - - - I would like to she the recipe for millionaire shortbread !

I've never played FRONTIERVILE, BUT I have heard that it is highly addictive . . . .
Is it bad that BYC is the first thing I do in the mornigns and the last thing I do at night . . .Talk about addictive . . .
I have a regular tissy if I don't get my BYC fix . . . .

I camp to, but it is the old fashioned tent camping. I want to upgrade to something with a/c. It is just so HOT in Florida, that I think we would camp more if we could cool off a little. . . We like to fish, walk, bicycle. HOWEVER, you do need a spot to cool off when the outdoor temps are 90 - 100.

TODAY is is mid 70 - to low 80's and I am thinking about putting jeans on because it is so COLD.
