Chicks we know its his heart - DH and I worked on the ambulances for years and a lot of time with cardiac patients. - It is just not like the USA here you get given a cardiologist you don;t just chose one( You can wait a very longtime to get treatment sometimes even years!!!!) We have a team of cardiologists at our local Hospital which is a good 100 mile round trip. We don;t really want to have to go further.
But they all answer to the same consultant - that fellow has been really good in the past and really was wonderful with Dotty sorting her heart out and getting her through the birth of Jessica. If we decide we don;t want that fellow they would tell us to pay for one privately and if we do that even once they will then say we have to pay for ALL of Dhs treatment for the heart. Which could run into tens of thousands of pounds!!!!!!! So we just have to keep pushing this hospital to keep checking and keep checking but all their tests so far say he is fine????? BUT like you we know he is NOT FINE!!!!! If folk pray that the problem can be found then at least they can start to treat it can;t they. If they can;t find it they can;t treat it I guess?

Oesdog - thanks.

Chicks - -

I have started my downsizing of the varieties of chickens I have.
I am trying to get rid of my SLW and welsummers.

That will leave me with Marans, delawares, speckled sussex, partridge rocks, and EE.
The three in the middle are the ones I have to decide on . . . . NEXT SUMMER . . . . DECISION time at my house!
I've got good stock on the delawares and I know where to get good stock on the partridge rocks. Speckled sussex I will have to do some more research on. I LOVE

a bird that talks to me and boy do the speckled sussex believe in talking to you, following you, tripping you, etc.

The Marans and EE's are keepers. I have such a sweet EE and her one offspring pol. I just can not get rid of them. There is something exciting about getting at least one green egg a day!

I also have a couple of leghorns. They lay when nothing else does. So, those stay, but I won't be breeding them

They are just too flighty. A real pain when you want to catch them !

How is YOUR HOLIDAY GOING ? ? ?
Have you started putting Christmas decorations out yet ? ? ?

Soooo many projects and so little time.

My yard is sending MIXED signals right now - - - - little pumkins and ghosts are right beside the lighted deer and snowmen!
We don't go anywhere thanksgiving weekend or have anyone over. So, this is our transition week. We are taking down and putting up at the same time. A little everyday. . . . TODAY, I have to figure out how to hang the NEW snowflake lights from the rooftops!

It's a nice right now here in Ohio but I hear the bottom is going to drop out tonight.....gosh I hate the cold

It's 34 degrees outside my house right now!

What's up with that? I live in Phoenix and it's DANG COLD!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Good Morning!

I gotta catch up to Math Ace on my coffee intake! Then I can get the house cleaned and the 2 x 4's cut for the coop addition!! Yipee!!! Yesterday I just ran errands and did stuff I needed to take care of. Then the chimney sweeps came, complete with top-hats! I did have to replace the damper, so it ended up being a bit pricy, but it is something I've wanted to do since moving in here two years ago. Now I just have to wait for a cold day.

Math Ace - I saw your post about you chicks fighting. You know, the Marans I have is by far the most agressive now (toward smaller birds, anyway). Maybe there is a line of more agressive ones? Sounds like you are keeping some really nice breeds. I'd love some Speckled Sussex someday. Right now I think I've maxed out my space at nine chickens. I'm still waiting in my trusty leghorn to start laying again. I want to give out "breakfast baskets" to people for Christmas - fresh eggs, pancake mix, and gormet coffee. The girls need to get it in gear so I have enough eggs to give away! And I REALLY want the EE to lay some green ones for them!

I don't put up Christmas stuff till after Thanksgiving, as it is my favorite holiday. I have started the shoppng, though. Tomorrow I think I'll go to the mall and see if I can get some good deals BEFORE black Friday, as you couldn't PAY ME to shop on black Friday.

Oesdog - I just felt bad realizing I'm telling you about circulation when you have a medical background. That's all. Hope he is feeling a little better today.
Ahh - Ohio. I lived there for four years, and that is where my family is all from. One year during college I drove home from here - straight into an ice/ snow storm. I couldn't even get my car up the icy driveway. I came in the house muttering and cursing at my parents (not AT them, but you know what I mean), telling them next year then needed to come down to see me! Ohio is a beatiful place, though. Still miss it some.
Time to get dressed and start cleaning. Just a bit more coffee first. Have a good one, chicken keepers!
