Have a nice day everyone!

Hey everyone,
busy day.

looked to change flight next week but the trouble will cost as much as another ticket so I plan to go to AL again in April. That means seeing the GC twice, which is neat. Plus go to a poultry show.

Still researching dishwashers.

weather is nice but supposed to get cold again.

Tartannik - do you know whether the Scots Dumpy's we have here are any good? Seems we can only get the Cuckoo variety but that's fine with me. What do you know about the breed?

Oesdog- always good to know your surviving.

Take care folks.

Rancher

I forgot to comment on your job in my first post, chicky! I was in mental health for the 13 years before last February, when I switched to school social work. I felt the same way - LOVED IT. I worked on an intensive case management team, so basically we were in charge of helping the folks that got discharged from hospitals survive in the community. I went back and forth to the state hospitals when they were there, too. Never had a dull day, thats for sure! I mainly switched jobs for the school schedule so I could have more time with my son, but some days I still miss working in mental health.

To be honest Rancher, I don't know, I only started on chickens a year or so ago and am still learning!! The person I got my last hens from breed Scots Dumpy's and always win prizes with them! Will see what i can find out for you!!

ChickyLaura, I think they split up and John got another girlfriend, apparently Kate got a bit 'up herself' but I read that in a magazine so who knows, shame really, quite liked that programme too!!

Good morning, everyone! I just had a weather alert pop up on my computer for a wintery mix this evening. Wonderful. I guess it's to be expected because, well, it is still winter.

rancher - glad to hear that you get to visit GC twice! Hopefully the weather'll be nicer by the time you go.

I don't follow that whole John and Kate ordeal, so I don't know who has which girlfriend or boyfriend now. My supervisor used to go to church with them, but I don't think they've been in church lately... But hey, for all I know, maybe she's dating the minister!!! LOL

chics - I work with ICM people, so I know exactly what you're talking about. That job must've been interesting. I'm sure you saw a lot. In our state, they keep closing down the state hospitals. The Disability Rights Network says that they want ALL state hospitals closed, because they are "inhumane". From what I hear, one of the head honchos is a former patient. What I want to know is - if the state hospitals are so "inhumane" why do so many people not WANT to get discharged? And if we treat people so badly, why do they keep in touch once they're discharged? I could go on and on about that subject, but it just makes me mad. How many people would be clogging up the prison system if the state hospitals closed - is that more humane???

My DH was admitted to the hospital last night, which I was kind of glad about. They believe he has a bowel obstruction. The poor guy has been really sick for about 5 days. He had to carry a bucket around the house with him for 5 days. Actually Friday he seemed a lot better, but yesterday he was really suffering. Thursday we had him to the ER, and they thought it was his gallbladder. CT on Thursday came out all clear so they sent him home with anti nausea meds. He couldn't even keep the anti nausea meds down for 2 minutes yesterday.

Visiting hours aren't until later on, so I figured I'd check in here for a little while.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Our coffee shop has been quiet this weekend! I'm enjoying some coffee before it's time to get ready for church. I wanted to sleep in, but my son had other ideas. I don't know why he has been waking up so early this weekend..... I'm tired. I tried to sit him in front of the TV and go back to sleep, but every ten minutes it was, "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy...."

I forgot to go back out and lock the coop last night. No harm done - it's good I'm a city girl without many predators around. I may be too blonde to survive the country life. I've always thought that someday I would like to live out on a farm, but I'm not completely sure I would make it. Or that my livestock would make it.

It got up to 80 degrees yesteday, gorgeous blue sky. Should be the same today, and for the overnight hike we have planned next weekend. I think spring has sprung!

My goal today is to start looking for a VW van shell to turn into the new coop. The junk yards probably aren't open, but I can start by contacting a few people on Craigs list that are "parting out" vans and see what they plan to do with them once they are stripped. I'm also going to work on PR for my swap.

Have a great day, folks!

Hey, we posted at the same time, Chickylaura!
I've always believed that although we want everyone to be as indepednent as they can manage, there is a place for state hospitals, as well. Some folks just need that level of care, some just for a short while and some for longer term. Many times it's for their own safety and health, and there isn't anything wrong with that. As with most things, moderation is the key.

I hope your husband is feeling better soon. It does sound like the hospital is the place he needs to be right now!

Afternoon everyone, just about to go get my lunch so no coffee!! Have been up since 7.30am. Let the hens out but on a weekend i normally go back to bed, but not this morning, stayed up and baked a cheesecake breakfast thingy which was nice and then some oatcakes which i am about to have for lunch!!
Then i am going to go and sort the new run out for the new Silkie Roo thats coming over in the next few days to be friends with my 2 silkie girls Constance and Wee Mo. Constance is still sitting on her eggs and only has 9 days to go!!
