Coffee's ready...

Good monring, chicken wranglers. It seems my son has generously shared his virus with me and I can hardly breath now. At least it's the weekend and I can try and rest.
That sounds like a nice hybrid, Karl. And good luck with all the calfs!
It turns out our pigeons have laid four eggs in their nest. Usually a pigeon will only sit on two, so that means they are probably both girls and we will not have any baby racing pigeons. Oops. I guess the guy mis-read one....

I felt so crumby last night I forgot to close up the coop, but all is well. It will be nice when I do the aviary and won't need to open/ close anything except once a week when I let them out to forage the rest of the yard.

Well, I need to get to home depot and exchange some fence boards. Bought the wrong size. Have a great day!

karl, have fun in Orlando! This should be a really nice time of year to go. We've been down there in March and June, and March was waaaaay better. Actually, one of my co-workers was there last week and he said it was a little chilly at night. We went 2 years ago in June and I believe I had heat exhaustion, or a heat stroke, or something heat-related. It was so stinking hot down there, I don't think I could take summers down there!

I do enjoy our summers much better up here in the north!

chics, keep us posted with pictures of your aviary! We will be starting on ours maybe next month, but we have other projects that need to be done first. Last night we went over to New Jersey because I found a dog run on Craig's List for $100. We're going to try to put it together today. We're also getting new carpet laid in our living room on Monday, can't wait!!! chics, I hope you and your son feel better soon. That can really get you down, when you're sick...

Hope everyone has a good day!

Too hot in June....

Come down here mid August/ September sometime. Our summer is your winter, my friends. We stay in side more and whine about the weather. Karl, right now the weather is absolutely perfect. I've got the window open with a breeze coming through. You'll have a great time just because of the weather!

Good morning chicken wqranglers
Thanks for the advice on the travel plans guys. I hope ther weather holds out for the next 2 weeks and is as good as ya'll say . We leave fri at 4 am " I hope !
So much to do to prepare for this I don't feel good about being gone, but W.W. made it clear I won't feel good after staying home either so off I go.

karl, you'll definitely have a good time. You may need a vacation when you get home, but Disney definitely has thought out the entire amusement park thing. The detail is amazing. My favorite park hands down is Animal Kingdom. I also like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride over in Magic Kingdom. Oh, and the 9 PM fireworks at Epcot are incredible!!! DH said maybe we'll try going again next March or April. Usually we drive down, stop over for a few days at Edisto Island SC and then Savannah for a little while. Then we make the rest of the trip down 95 to I-4. Be careful on I-4, that's the American version of the Autobahn in my opinion.

I was able to get some time off from work in September, but not too much time over the summer due to seniorority. So, the kids will be in school, but I'd still like to get my "fix" in. Our oldest offered to stay home with the other kids that are in school, so DH and my dearest Mom and myself are planning to travel!!! Oh, the possibilities! I was looking at packages on Expedia yesterday, and wow does Paris look tempting. I found a place near Disneyland Paris - round trip flight, taxes, and hotel with a breakfast buffet for $990 for one week, per person of course. The hotel is a very close walk to the metro. Wish I had the $ to book it right now, but... I also found a cruise from South Carolina to the Bahamas for under $500 per person. We always take the kids with us, but we are on a very strict budget when they come along. I'd really like to do something a little more "exotic". Whatever we do, I know I'll be working overtime to finance that adventure... My dad passed away fairly young, so I'm trying to pack as much into my lifetime as possible! What's the saying, "Carpe Diem!"

Have a great day, everyone! It's a beautiful first day of spring up here in good old Pennsylvania!!! Now I'm happily daydreaming of my travel possibilities!!!

Good morning chicken wranglers
Guess you guys been lonely without me, Well ihe next 11 days . Hope you all have a great time without me , God Bless! I'll have a safe trip God is my copilot!

Hi everyone, it is just to busy some days to follow.

So this is what's going on on my end.

Got eggs from Alabama hatching and hope the rest do. It's day 19/20 depending on how you count and there are 9/23 in the incubator. 3 silky, 3 ee , 1 del and 2 unknown. Hoping the rest hatch but they still go one or two days depending on how you count. If you count the set day than one if not then two. I did set them late in the day. 4:10 pm.

I also have 14 orpington chicks from Hinkjc farms. 5 lav, 2 buff, 2 blk and 5 wht. You can see her stock on her web page if you haven't had a look yet. I also have 11 for someone else in NYS and I can't get a hold of her to pick them up. I've had them since Sat. Fortunately she paid for them in advance to the Hinkjc. I wish she'd at least call. I'm worried something may be wrong. Plus I need the brooder space for my hatching chicks.

Oesdog - Baby Darcy is growing fast and already to heavy for me to carry around. She's talking and nearly crawling. She is scared of the roosters though. You crow and she starts crying.

Weather is still the same cold and there is snow today. We haven't broken the record yet and I hope we don't.

So that's it for now.

Take care

Rancher

Well that's ok. Darcy can scream real loud if she doesn't get her what she wants. Not really but she does screech when she's trying to do something and can't.
