Coffee's ready...

Morning people,
I hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying their summer. We had ourselves a mean storm yesterday, started around 4:30 and poured till 6:30. Dry pails had about 4" of rain in them afterwards. We'll take what we can get for rain tho.

We did some canning yesterday, the better half and her mother we involved. We did peaches, pickled beets, and tried pickled carrots and pickled cucumbers. I can't wait to try the cucumbers.

3 more weeks till vacation......... We are thinking of doing cranberry lake and if we survive, off to Mt. Marcy. I'm starting to dry our food now and planning meals etc.

Take care and enjoy the days

Good morning chicken wranglers
61 degrees tjis morning.I got some of the mowing done last night and I hope that I can get to the garden tonight. It is very dry here now, but at least it is cool!
Q sounds like a real good time,I once went to a place in new york called bowdish lake ,"I think", I was only 15 and that was back when me and Noah just had the ark in planning stages!
Rancher I know what you mean,,Like having weddings and funerals on Sunday. It just wasn't done,The preacher had enough to do if you know what I mean.My Son was the accolyte at church sunday,It was nice to see him and have that little pride thing.
God Bless!

Good Morning Everyone,

Got up with the wife as I do most mornings. Can't do much outside since it's been raining. The wet makes the runs smell, even though they are covered. Not nice. Got Jesse coming tomorrow I hope to clean coops and runs. I just cant' do it with my back.

Won't get much from the garden cuz I didn't plant til late. Maybe a few squash and tomatoes. Chickens are getting parsely and some swiss chard. I just didn't give it the attention it needed. Tomatoes are up nice but just need more time.

Yeah, Karl I hate when there are things planned for Sundays. They sometimes have shows then and I try to get there after 12 when church ends but miss alot. Seems to me we didn't have the problems in the world we have when folks went to church as families. Folks don't see the change in me since they don't know so much of my past.
Speaking of weddings DW is making a cake for one this Saturday. She's a real good cook and just made a bazzillion cookies for one last Saturday. I've learned to stay outta her way when she's into it.

Well now the queen is up and since they're moving at the end of the month I gotta spend some time with her. We go for walks and Lord have mercy it's such as nice thing. She's still not walking real well but she gets around pretty good just the same.

Take care folks, places to go and people to annoy.

Good morning, folks. That does sound like a nice trip, Quercus. Enjoy.
And enjoy the weeks you have left with the little one, Rancher.
I'm taking a bit of a drive so BF's youngest girl can visit a friend that we met at a chicken swap. They are a lovely family to visit, I just wish they were closer than an hour away. I have so many things to do before going back to work on Monday.

I finished the thatch roof on the coop last night! We didn't end up eating dinner till 7pm as a result, but I was DETERMINED to finish it. It rained for two days straight and I just wanted to get out there when it finally stopped. I'll take pics later. It's not as visible as I had hoped with the way I designed it, but it looks okay.

Well, gotta get busy and finish a few things before we drive up there. Have a good one.

Good Morning All!
Rancher: I love that saying " Take care folks, places to go and people to annoy."

Busy time ahead of me.
My cousin is getting married tomorrow. He is 50 years old and finally taking the plunge but She's a great girl!
Our "extra house" is supposed to be rented with option to buy on Sunday - I want to get everything out by then. Of course they haven't come up with any ernest money yet and we don't want to simply rent a fully restored and updated queen ann victorian home - no matter how desparate we are. We had agreed on a low rent with half going to the down stroke after 6 months but they still need to come up with the ernest money. Some thing fishy about them - or am II just having "sellers remorse"?

Next Saturday I am hosting a Chicken People Meet/Bonfire/Campout at the farm. I have to get welcome packs for every one, design some kind of way to distribute the grreat gifts we got donated without me having to "work" the thing constantly. I want to have fun too. We have 3 large gift bags. I was thinking about a raffle where every one gets ( or should it be every family) 1 ticket. Before the first ones leave - whenever that is, we should have drawings and without knowing what's in which prise, they could choose 1 of the 3. .... Or should we have a contest? Teams. Playing those toss bag games ( which I could borrow 1) and that lawn golf ladder game. I could make a sign up sheet for teams and then they could challenge eachother until a winner is determined. That could be 2 of the bigger prises whith one just for being there. I'd like everyone to co-mingle with eachother. That would force it. Or would it be too much work for me?
I don't know - - - I need more coffee!

LISTEN TO YOUR GUT, Denise. If they seem fishy and they haven't handed you any cash, KEEP LOOKING. Trust me on this one. I'm in the middle of trying to get refrences done on the one and only person to give me an application for my duplex, so I know it's tough out there, but you don't want more of a headache than it's worth.

I think you should do a little of both. A raffle for a few of the prizes, and games for a few, too. I found it was kind of hard to get people to participate in my game at my swap (is it a swap or just a meet up?) Either way, sounds like fun! Are you near Decatur?

It's a meet, and for entertainment I decided to set off our bonfire pile for the first time this year.
WE are not too far from Decatur. Why do you ask? Do you think you can come? That would be great!

My late husband is from Decatur, and my in-laws are still there during the summer. Joliet sounded familiar. I haven't been up there in a while, as they are here all winter so I see them plenty then.

That meet-up sounds like fun! Next year maybe I'll go visit them in the summer and you could have another meet-up and I could meet you and Karl both!!
