My girls just went wild for a bowl of snow. Yes Snow. The run is covered so no snow in the run but the 1/2 X 1/2 hardware cloth filled up and I noticed them pecking at it. Today it was all melted away and they were still stretching to get the stuff on the roofline. So I scooped some up and put it in the run. You would have thought it was the roast beef scraps.

I am feeling pretty low at the moment as I am really tired. DH is ill again. I think the meeting this morning just did for him and he has been getting the really bad headaches again. Now the chest is as he puts it "tight" but he isn;t taking the GTN unless it gets worse because he can't take the headaches either. He also has Morphine in the form of patches so he has a couple of those on as well.

Of course when he is sick I have to carry him , Danny and Ben's needs. SO I am a bit done in tonight. Also a bit low at the prospect of the full time residential care thoughts. I am hoping we can keep Danny week days and get a care packege sorted for the weekends and centre holidays. So we get to have breaks and "keep our lad".
At least now we will be getting 20hrs a week care for the other boy at darn last they concede and give us the care!!!!!! Now at age 24yrs!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!

My birds go daft over snow too! My wee Betty went up the yard last year and was too scared of the snow to come down again. I had to go rescue her cause the snow was so deep when she took off down the yard she disapeared under it!!!!!

No one has been on yet so will just post under this.

DD came over last night with the baby the child is sick again and went to the GP yesterday so is back on antibiotics. I think she has asthma. She is always ill and not thriving the way I would like to see her at this age and stage.

DH - sent him to the DR this morning first thing to get the old chest sorted and checked.

Just put Danny on the bus for his adult centre - breath sigh of relief!!! After 5 days of him being home plus reviews and sick folk I am done. So time to get my glad rags on and I think take DH out for coffee once he returns. I got free coffee tickets

Good morning people,
Last Friday's snow is just about gone and we are back to full electricity. It looks like we finally have ourselves a hard frost out there. It's only about a month late.

chicks and osedog: those pictures look great. We don't get trick or treaters around here. Not enough houses in the area.

More clean up is in store for me today. My grand in law has a nice pile of brush/trees that has to be cleaned up. Thank you mother nature.

Q I had wondered if you would have your hands full after the blizard and not having fully recovered from the flood we will pray for you also
Rngr hope you have a good time in the snow. They are predicting a chilly rain for us as the storm out west dissapates while traveling our way.I am going to prepare for an ice storm just to make sure,Our first ice storm is usually closser to thanksgiving but this year is looking more radical.

Karl - we are not the kind of folk to lose contact with our lad even if he did go into full time care. We would still visit him and take him out of the care home for weekends , Holidays , christmas etc. At the moment we are just hoping to get him a space to have a few nights a month. It is hard going at times but we get there - I guess parents can;t really resign or retire!

We did the rounds after our coffee. - saw the DD and baby Jess. Jess is covered in a bad red angry rash again all down her back and legs and arms. We think its dermatitus or Exema but the Dr -?????? Wing nutt Told DD the baby just has a virus and that the rash is NAPPY RASH???? I never saw a nappy rash look like that and I brought up 4 kids! Also never once got nappy rash on their arms or lower legs???? Maybe DD missunderstood the fellow??? Either that or she needs a second opinion! Anyhow its not meningitus or measles. Her wee chest is clear but she is very wingy and clingy to her momma.

Then we went to check on our other lad, He texed us while we were having coffee to tell us "his carer had left" - He just has to have someone about. So much for the long fought for independant living. I think he gets very lonely at times. So we sat and had another coffee with him and chatted about Christmas comming and other stuff. He forgot about his review Tuesday and has another next Tueday so reminded him. I also managed to secure him a dental appointment on a Thursday morning (as he asked for and told me only to get!) - So he says to me - I can't go on a thursday??????? WHY!!!!!???? Sometimes I wish he had a "factory reset button!!!!" Brain injury is so frustrating!!!!!!!

DH is now gone to bed for a rest so I will follow as the other fellow DS will be in off his bus shortly. Then it all starts over with the nappies and showering and feeding and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - WHY DID I COME BACK FROM SPAIN????????? Oh well life is as it is and you have to make the best of it.

At least the wine is nearly ready to bottle soon!!!!

Hope your frost isn't to severe and that you guys are all getting sorted for the winter. I am not sure my Hen house is up to much! There is a gap at the top and of course the cold air and draft, rain and snow I am certain can get in? - I am thinking we should change it? I prefered the old shed but Bertha got hurt in the shed and Eleanor died so somethng wasn't safe.

Better go get a rest

Oesdog I know you would not willingly give up your son.I just did not know if the services would require an altogether infrequent contact schedule.I raised a handicapped child for a few years,he was my nephew, it was hard for me but he went back to his father, who sent him on to a group home,after that the boy was only home once or twice a year and that is how the people in charge wanted it "I was told".
I half to say that it is very good that you have remained in chargeof your son as anyone with less perseverence would have faded and failed.Over here the social workers call the sitters respit workers and believe me I know that it is needed and well deserved,so I wish you good luck in attaining one.
The snow out thatwas west is cold rain here today.I was happily wrong about ice,so far.Winter is here though just not in full force.
I had hoped to start pouring concrete in the new building but the weather is not on my side or so it seems.

Karl: Yeah it is hard going - I have both boys disabled so double trouble. I guess it hits home sometimes more than others, especially when I am exhausted and DH is ill.
I am looking into things again. I just don't want to be relying on the good will of family etc. as thats not fare and we need time as a family too outside of care duties.
Things others take for granted are so hard to do like simply walking the Dogs or going out to the movies. Your right care workers are so important. Sorry about your lad - It is sad that the Dad gave him up to a care home after you took him in and loved on him and all. Thing is Karl : they are easier when they are kids but when they get bigger like Danny and Ben age 24yrs now! Its much harder work and sometimes they are better in a facility that can manage their care better - not like here with worn out old battered up parents - when they could have young energetic enthusiastic staff to give them a good time! Hard to know really sometimes what the answer is.

I guess I get upset sometimes when I think - well DD is in a relationship with a baby and our eldest son is in a relationship thinking of getting married and moving to France ( Emm his partner is French) Then I look at the disabled boys and silly things like - We will NOT be getting grand babies from them! Yes it affects so much. I am sad somedays especially for Dan as he will always be a baby in an adults body.

Here today has been quite bright. I let the girls out to free range because their run is like the somme again! They are enjoying that much.

We had to go check on DD and the baby today again she seems a little better and the rash down her legs is begining to fade. Still she is very clingy and tearful. DD is exhausted. We took her buns and made coffee.

Now back and DH is in bed again as it's been a bit much for him he isn;t looking well. I am for the Dr later so will need to talk to them. My Arthritis is starting to play up with the cold and stress so I am in a lot of pain on and off but I have to keep going as I need to look after all of them! So best Paws to the ground I guess!

Good morning people,
We have been lucky lately, no rain or snow since last Friday. We still have puddles and a wet lawn. The other day, the better half ran out to see me in bare feet. By the time she got to me, she had quiet the set of muddy feet. She grovelled for a piggy back ride back to the house since I had boots on. I wanted to mud wrestle, but she wasn't into it.

The last day of Day Light Saving's Time, I hope everyone gets to enjoy it.

I have a show Saturday, the old rats concert Sunday, afterwards to a good German restaurant. I can remember, way back when, I was about 14/15, a friend of mine own a German restaurant/bar. I remember going into their walk in frig and eat my fill. The frig was like the whole basement, with crocks full of sauerbraten. The family was really good people. I always had a place to sleep if I wanted one.

Q what a special memory eat kraut till you can't walk and then sleep with visions of children in liberhosen yodeling and dancing to polka music,I guess you did not say anything about lieberhosen, children, or polka that was my add libb hope it did not offend you.
Oesdog things will buck up.I've been having atime of it myself lately.Though I'm sure it is not as trying as you have it. At least my home is my safe haven and not my challenge as in your case.
I've been so busy at work that My son has to care for all the animals himself and I forget that he is only 12.He deserves time to be a boy.
Ice on the windshield this morning old man winter is close and givin mee chills.
