Coffee's ready...

Good morning chicken wranglers,
Rngr you are excelling at your craft! The coop looks great , the pic of the city looks cool also.I'm cleaning winter stalls out for the chicks. My girls are not as large as yours yet. We bought 2 ducks at tsc Saturday. We got the ones that were in the hospital almost dead .We put them in the brooder with a banty that is too small to be with the reds and the meat birds. We will have to see if they do survive. We also have to hide them from the wife./ Deb does not want ducks crapping on the drive and all around the house, as they are prone to do. I do love their eggs though.
I went to see God is not dead, found it very good!
God Bless!

Good morning chicken wranglers,
How are the flocks? How is the coffee?
I got some potato's planted before it rained! exactly one week after the last hard freeze. I hope it does not freeze again this spring!
We gave had cool but acceptable temps lately. I finally turned the heat lamps off in the brooders . Perhaps all will be fine now that may is almost here.
Rngr how come s the coop ? Q where is your latest post?
Oes?
God Bless!

Morning people,
I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy. Spring is finally showing it's face here. We had a few morning when the temps dipped below 30, but warmed up to the 50's during the day. I am hoping to plant one of the raise beds with kale/spinach/lettuce today. If I am lucky, maybe I can finish off one of the other beds and plant some carrots. The starters are doing good in the "green shed", the eggplant, squashes, dill, basil and up and showing themselves.
On the chicken front, they are doing good. 2 - 4 eggs a day. More then I should be eating, so they say.

Karl: I was going to try potatoes this year. When I am done with the compost piles, I was thinking of putting some in it. One year, by accident wee had some going in it. So..... I am finally able to get back to enjoyable work. I was laid up with no heavy lifting for close to 4 weeks. Slowly getting my knee strength back. We went on a 8 mile hump the other day with a 1/2 pack. Up and over 3 little mountains and found snow. Anyways, tonight if things go well, striper bass fishing. The better half is going with me..... I might have to tie her to the shore if she hooks into one... she wont let go of the pole...
I hold off in getting chicks until mid May. I had to many problems with the cold damp weather this time of year.
RangrBill: Hows the coop and chicks doing?

Enjoy your day, it's the only one

Que. ,
Glad your on the mend. eight miles quite impressive. I'm lucky if I can get 1 or 2. I really need to eat more eggs and get this weight off.

coop about the same as pictured above have had company all week so have spent time doing touristy things. I have had the window by the ladder wide open and have had day time temps up to 109º at roost level drops to low 60's at night. I am putting another large window above where my nest boxes will be Hopefully it will drop the temp with out causing draughts.

For some reason they have stopped using the roost. Both of them the low and high. and they are bunching up in a corner by the nest box cutouts. Any Ideas??? I thought it might be because of the red light on the Temperature sensor at roost level. I covered it with tape and still they are snuggled up in the corner. They are only 7 - 9 weeks old. (oh boy!!!! half way to eggs with my oldest.).

As I said I have a make shift run from snow-fence and plastic hardware cloth. I put a drop cloth over the top to give shade. They can get outside and avoid the very high heat in the coop. The temp has dropped by bed time for them.

Rain has stopped momentarily so best get to work on the window. Have to get it in because wed. I head off to FL for a visit with the GS and DD & Son in law.

Oes. How are things across the pond?
Prayers for all you guys and gals.

Coffee on (or tea as the case may be)

Morning people,

Hello ose, good to see you back.

Rngrbill: now you are talking........ baileys and coffee. How about some steak and eggs with fried mushrooms and onions on the side, all topped with cheese.

Yard work today. No luck on the fishing. We went out once. Our son we are glad we never had is chomping on the bit to go out. He just returned from the Philippines. Maybe Sunday when the ladies take the better half out for a "girls" day.

Enjoy the day, it's the only one.
Kaj

How about pancakes, bacon, home fries, fresh whipped cream, strawberry sauce, strawberry and rhubarb sauce, maple syrup, coffee, tea, orange juice for breakfast? The ladies conned me into making it today when they came to get the better half. Now my choice,, fishing or napping.......................... maybe both at the same time.
