Had a good rain last night. I was moving some mulch and the Princess was on the deck. I said, "Check the rain gauge, and see how much rain we got." She said, "Nearly 3 inches." I saw the gauge, and no way was it 3". I took the gauge, and said "You were reading the cm portion of the gauge." That was OK, but when I started laughing she threw the water on me. Should have known better.

3 cm sounds amazing. We got maybe 2 mm the before yesterday. That was the first rain in weeks.

we were told that we had 3+ inches last Sat. pm - Sunday am. we were out of town but saw the results of it. My poop bucket has 1/2 in gap on each side of the board I use as a cover and we had 1 inch of water in it. Now I have to clean up that mess. DW just got a section of garden ready for it.

We're getting some rain now AGAIN!. Thunder and lightning too.

What is a poop bucket?

I went today and got some horse manure, and two 4' X 6' pallets. I traded eggs for the manure the pallets were free. I hope to build a new compost area. I also hope to get more manure so my garden does better next year.

I repotted my eggplant yesterday, it had nice roots. With so little growthperiod left, I decided to put it in almost raw compost, it'll either die or grow like crazy.

Ahh, dogs walked and fed, chicken coop cleaned and feeder and waterer refilled, breakfast eaten, and finally my first cup of coffee.

I'm working overnite so as I'm eatting my salad and babysitting truck drivers I hope my dog is asleep at home as are the chickens. Hopefully I will have enough energy in the am to to excersie and walk the dog and do the chicken thing ( I mean take care of the the chickens). It sounds like its pouring outside. We need the rain. Only got about an inch in the past 3weeks.

I grow my egg plants in 10" pots, but this year they didn't do as good as in the past. I'm thinking it was the soil I used. I don't like egg plant but DW does. I did find a recipe for egg plant "meat" balls and I bought some so DW can make them and we can try them out. Some of our friends are veggie terrorists.
