Coffee's ready...

Joy = watching Rutgers beat up on Penn State much to the chagrin of my wife, son, SIL, daughter and grand children.

Cool this am. Watched the ground hog in the yard from the upstairs window yesterday. Chickens all played like they didn't notice. Not the least bit bothered by it.

Spent much of last evening reading over documents of my great, great granfathers' petition to receive a Civil war pension. Nothing has changed with the government. Some of them were for an increase in pension once he did get it. The final document was of my great, great grandmothers petition to get a Widows pension after he died. Hers was much bigger than anything he got.

I'm doing a genealogy research and learned a few things.

I've been in such a funk the last week or so. I've alot to do and need to shake it. Grandkids and parents sick with colds so I can't go visit them.

Take care and enjoy the day,

Happened to spot two of my best tape measures, along with one that I don't care much for, in my wife's kitchen "stuff" drawer, two more in her laundry room tool drawer, and one just appeared on a dresser in our bedroom. No wonder I can never find them in my shop.

Thief.

Perhaps you just left them laying about and the wife picked them up and tossed them in a drawer?

I wonder if my SIL who does construction didn't pick up mine on a visit here.

Well we had a great weekend camping. We are really going downhill after 62 years of tenting we now have cots with 6" airbeds and added 2 new "toys" this weekend. We went Back to Axtel campground about 1 1/2 hours sw of Louisville.

Sink is on a Coleman "high"stand about 24" tall. will have to fix that for next season but it is just the right height for my 3 & 5 year old GDs. missed taking a picture of them doing the dishes. the 3yr old has no concept of a sink with no drain hole.

Might have to take care of that too.

Good morning chicken wranglers,
Looks as if all had a great week end, except for the migrating tapes ? they seem to have wandered home accidentally!
My garden did get tilled but the sweet potato's are still in the ground and the pool is still full and uncovered such is the lament of the week end farmer.
rngr your camping set up is quite sophisticated for a dedicated tent camper! Just take the plunge and buy one of those upper end road hog mobiles and make the dear wife's dreams come true!
Need to take one of the foals to the vet today but I have to work life is as it is , just a jaunt between stress, and crisis .
God Bless!

Gargoyle - I sometimes leave things near the back door to take to the garage. I HAD a small black tape to use in the house on my desk. I also keep a small hammer, some screw drive, pliers, extra eye glasses. glue sticks, pens, pencils and scissors there too. I just noticed there is an ice pick in the pencil holders too. Have no idea why it's there.

rngrbill - Before long you'll need a camper to carry all that stuff. I always and still hated loading up.

I kept it simple. We have a Dodge Caravan. I'd just take the seats out and put two coolers behind the front seats. We slept in the van. I hated the damp clammy feeling of sleeping in a tent. The only thing I didn't have that I needed was a cup of coffee in the morning. One frying pan, a fold up sterno stove to cook. Paper plates and cups and plastic ware. No TV or electronics. Books to read. DW would load us up with more food than we needed. Course we were only gone for three or four days. It would just be me and two of the kids. Then I'd take the other two kids. DW is NOT a camper.

Karl - God love ya, you've got more energy than me. I could use some right about now. It's cold and I hate the cold. Things need putting away for the snow. Only thing is weather is fickle here. Might be in the 80's. I've never learned when to dump the flower pots, rip out the tomato plants, plant the garlic and whether I'd need the hoses.
