Coffee's ready...

arrgh me hardy, even rats or mice?

nah, rat, mouse and mole poison is sold at most hardware stores, some walgreens and CVS, and even some convenience stores here. It's permitted.

Poisoning big animals is kind of like burying land mines. You don't know who will actually be hit by it, and its very hard to remove after placing it. (although land mines have a much longer half-life and more dramatic and tragic long term effects; but the concept is analogous)

Afternoon, folks.

@sourland I think our flock is your kind of flock. Right now, out of our 5 layers, 4 are broody. We've gotten 2 eggs in the past 3 days

I would be happy with 2 eggs in 3 days. I can't remember the last time our chickens laid a egg............

I can remember way back when ( some days I amaze myself knowing who I am when I wake up... ), I went and looked at some trees for a competitor. When we got to his clients property, I couldn't help but notice all the dead song birds. I mean, they were very noticeable. So I ask the home owner what happen, he said he has a squirrel problem raiding the bird feeder and living in his attic. So he decide ( wisdom ) to scatter some rat/mice poison around the exterior of his house, under the trees etc. The fancy kind that looked like sunflower seeds. Needless to say, it was either my ranting or the astronomical price I gave him, I didn't get the job.

All sorts of pesticides, fungicides, weedkillers and poison are available here for the homeowner consumer. As a arborist, I need a pesticide lic. to do my job. The hoops I had to jump through, paperwork.......yearly fees... I could go on and on and on.

Another cool morning. No rain and it's getting dry around here. Catching up in the shop.

Enjoy your day
